Title: Last trip of the year!
Post by: chrisvmo on October 31, 2008, 10:35:32 AM
Well I have a girl who really wants a ring on her finger thus being the reason for hanging um up early this year. I wanted to go out with a boom! go some where new and catch the one that would prevent me from selling my boat and make it out next year. My first step was getting some great advice from Mr. "DK" himself. Next step pick the lake....so I pick up a map of Michigan and start thinking. I was very tempted to go to either Muskegon or my new favorite lake as of this year, Mona! Its a hidden Jem! Well for some reason lake Allegan caught my eye. Lake Allegan is the back water behind a dam on the Kalamazoo River. There has to be some smallies there right? So I'm off bound and determined to catch a lunker. I get out there and it looks perfect like why haven't I herd of this place before? Well about 4 hours later throwing everything at them I started to think...hmm this is why I haven't herd of this place! On my way back to the launch I spotted a nice point what the heck. I decided to tie on a coffee tube... that I bought early and never tried. So I cast it out there and let it sit kind of jigging very slow when my phone rings. It was my girlfriend wondering when I would be home to take her out for dinner, Before I could respond I look at my line and it is running 100 mph to the side. Needless to say I didn't get a chance to say good bye. I reel the slack out, set the hook and it was on...a big bronze back that I swear jumped at least 10 feet out of the water. It was just over 20...probably 3.5. Man a long day for just one fish but it was that one fish that will bring me back next year! Just thought I would share.

Chris.
