I have a LCX 27 on the bow and a 28 on the console..I was having problems with my LCX sonar locking up..It seemed to be worse in less than 10 feet of water with weeds..It would lock up on the last depth read..If I shut it off and turned it back on it would be locked on 60ft..I then would switch out my console unit and put it in the bow and the 28 worked fine..the 27 would still be locked up in the console..I sent it in and they exchanged it for a new one...
I installed my new 27 a month ago..I started having problems with it pretty much right away..It seems to work ok in deeper water...But locks up hard in shallow water with weeds..On sunday I fished a tournament on Kent Lake..I thought I would start with the 27 in the Console and put the 28 in the Bow just to see what would happen...The 27 locked on 60 ft just as we were ready to launch..I hurried up and swapped the units and the 28 worked fine in the Console and the 27 worked intermittently during the day..It would lock up on the last depth or 60 ft..If I shut it off and turned it on it would lock up on 60 ft..When it locks up the screen isn't reading at all..I tried a couple of different settings on the sonar and that didn't help..
The LCX 28 has worked fine for over a year in my boat...and works well where ever I put it..So I can't think of any problems with the boats system...I am at a loss here..I sent an Email to Linda Colt at Lowrance, but haven't gotten a response yet...I am running a Lakemaster card in the 27 that is the only difference between the units other than the hard drive..
Any Ideas????
Thanks
It's always been my experience that Linda Colt is the final answer...have you posted this on Bass Boat Central?
The boys there are pretty sharp too.
Good luck
You need to check which ver. of software that you have on the 27
2.4 is the latest and it did fix the lock ups in shallow water
I have to tell you that Lowrance is not the company it used to be. They were bought out 2 years ago. The service is horrible. I have had a Lowrance LMS 332C in with them since 4/11 with no response. My local electronics service center is done with them and refuses to deal with them anymore. I am most likely going to move to another product when I upgrade.
I finally got my issue resolved with working through Linda Colt..It took 3 different units until I finally got one that worked...Linda was great, but If I wasn't already committed to Lowrance in my current boat I would look at a different brand....
Thank goodness Linda is still there!
As long as she is there, Lowrance cust. service has to be the best?
