Poll
Question: Should we...
Option 1: Skip the weekend of the 27th and wait until Oct 4? votes: 1
Option 2: Do a Saturday event on 27th (BFL guys won't make it)? votes: 3
Option 3: Do an event on the 20th if we don't fish MBI? (This would mean cancel the 27th) votes: 7
Title: Options for our next event

Okey guys, what do you think?  We need to decide asap so we don't end up confused right before the event.  Once we make a concrete decision, we can create a poll regarding WHERE to fish.

Hey,

I thought we were out of the MBI since they wouldn't lift the off-limits and just got asked to fish a different tourney that day. So at this time I'm out for the 20th. I can still do something either the 25th, 26th or 27th, which is Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

I'm supposed to fish Union Lake this Sunday, in a different club tourney. Anybody have any inside knowledge they'd like to share since I've only ever been on the lake once before. I'll let you know how we do overall.

Mark

Hello fellows,
Since I have a new boat getting rigged this week my vote is lets do all them days, and who ever shows, lets fish.I know, for a guy who  only fished one event this year, lots of talk! But had such a good time the last event, I'm ready to get out as much as possible, before the season ends.I am Bob 690 for one more week, then its Bob 620! Life is good

Yep, you're right Mark.  But Jack said there was a remote possibility they'd remove the off-limits period.  If they did, some guys may still like to fish it.  But at this point, it seems pretty sure they're not gonna remove the off-limits.

Bob, congrats on the new boat!  Can't wait to see it.

Dartag, you are always welcome to come fish with us.  We have had the 4th planned as an event since April, so that's why most of the EBA guys aren't fishing the DKO.  Too bad the Fall DKO wasn't scheduled in April, then we'd have happily worked our schedule around it.  But right now everyone's schedules are too tight to try to change our club dates.   :(  Anyway, yeah, come fish on the 4th if you like.  It should be fun.

The majority want to do something on the 20th.  If we're going to do something Saturday, someone needs to take the bull by the horns and organize it.  Normally I'd be happy to, but our basement at church flooded due to the heavy rains and I'm tied up with the cleanup effort.  I could probably make it on Saturday if someone formulates a game plan.

Did we decide on Erie with St. Clair as our backup?  Someone please help figure this all out.  We're kinda flying by the seat of pants here...

Looks like everyone wants the 20th. I can be there but would need to leave a little early, by 1:30pm. So, I would like to do St. Clair since it is a lot closer. The fish should be moving back to the mile roads by now so the Crocker launch would be a good place to meet.

I can verify that there are fish on the Mile Roads now.

Anything along Jefferson would be fine...including Crocker and Metro...I just can't go clear down to Elizabeth Park as much as I would like too...
Don't base your plans on me though...You guys work it out and if I can make it great..Right now I am planning on going unless something crazy happens at work...
I can go as a boater or non-boater whatever fits..

I can't do Saturday the 20th...had another commitment come up.  But I might be able to convince the wife to let me out on Sunday the 21st.  Might be the last time I can get to LSC this summer / fall.  MOJO?  Or anybody else...I'll be your boater...Ballard Ramp?

Let me know.

Is that true?

Hi Guys,

I drove by the DNR Clinton River Cut-Off (Ballard) ramp today and it was open, had about 20 cars in the lot. At this time of the year with the weeds dying off it can get really bad on the ramps with an onshore wind.

I'm not going to be able to make this one since I'm doing the BBC Lake St. Clair Rally on the 20th with Mike McGrane. I believe Jack is doing it also.

Good Luck & be safe, Mark

Ok, so no one but Moto and I plan to fish that day.  Is this correct?  If no one wants to fish, maybe I'll just fish the BBC rally too.  Anyone know if it is a team tournament or a draw?

I am in...I can go as a Non..It will be better for me anyway, I have a banquet sat. afternoon and i won't have to worry about taking care of the boat...
I have to be off of the water NLT 2:00...Hopefully that isn't a problem...If it is I can bring my boat...
What Launch and what time???
I think Metro is having a boat show, and I know for sure of one tournament going out of Harley...Crocker/Ballard may be the best choice...I will go wherever though let me know...
Looking forward to it..

Well... honestly guys, I'd love to just fish a fun club event that day, but I think I'm gonna bow out and fish the BBC rally then since we aren't getting the participation.

Sorry guys, I guess we'll just have to wait until the 4th for our next official event.  What kind of gets me here is that 7 guys voted in the poll that wanted to do something on this date, but most of them aren't gonna make it.

No worries, I have some ideas for how to get the schedule to be more reliable for next year and hopefully increase participation.  We have a great club with some really fantastic guys.  A little tweaking is all we need to make this club even better.  Let's get a meeting together soon to talk about it.  Sorry Brian and David about this event.

It shows were doing Detroit River on Oct. 4th, probably out of the St. Jean ramp. If the river and south shore isn't fishing any better than it is right now I think we'd be better off moving it somewhere else. I keep hearing that Lake Erie and the river mouth is "on" down there so maybe thats a possibility if people want to make the drive.

Tom, your right. I think we need to have monthly or at least bi-monthly meetings to keep things on track. Could even do meetings before or after the events at the ramp if we had to. I think we've seen this kind of thing happen before.

Bob, if your boat got done and you want to get that new boat smell out with some fish, let me know. Even though the channels were fishing tough this past weekend the water should be clearing up and the bite should get better again.

Mark

Agreed on all counts.  I'm good with launching at Elizabeth Park if the weather cooperates.  If the weather makes Erie out of the question, maybe we should launch at Harley Ensign or the N. Channel Ramp.  OR... we could even launch in Marine City and fish Fawn and North to the mouth of Huron.  At some point Stag and Fawn have to get a little better with the water quality improving.  Let's start a post to start discussing the 4th.

Mark,I picked up the new boat on Sunday. After a 4 hour delay at Cabela's we got on the road back home. Finally made it out to the lake at about 5:30.All I can say is WOW!What a different ride between the 1996 ranger 690 fisherman to the 2008 620 fisherman.Made a run from south river ramp to gull island, back to the middle channel,up the middle channel to the St.Clair river.back down to the north channel, into the rough lake.Still smiling and my three passengers are cold, bummer I was ready to go down to the Detroit river. When ever you want to get out let me know.Lots of vacation left.Sorry Tom,if I had a boat on Saturday I would have fished.I left my boat at Cabela's when they made me the deal on the trade in on my new boat.
