i am new to the site here, but was recommended by bender. my question is has anyone ever fished foote pond dam? my fishing buddy has been up there last few years, but this will be my first time this weekend. if anyone has any little secrets that might help me wax him, like i usually do anyway, lol, they would be appreciated.
he also mentioned a few lakes near there, not sure which one he is taking me too, but anything in the oscoda area that anyone could help with, please feel free to respond.
BTW, we will fishing for bass, large or small mouth, makes no difference.
thank you,

First things first welcome to the site ;D You will find alot of information here. All of the people I have had the chance to meet have been great folks.
I have a cabin on Foote pond witch is right across from the river queen boat just at the top of the big sand hill. You will find tons of long grass in the river near the banks and just off the points. try to fish around each end of the dam in about 15fow I usually do good around there. Also try the big point just across from the east launch. it will be the one the one that has pontoons docked off each shore line from the point. There is great fish in the water It's just tough to keep the weeds off a open hook. good luck Ill be up there all weekend...

awesome, thanks for the advice. will be sure to check it out. if your out fishing in the morning and you see 2 guys that look way to big for their boat,l ol, that will be us. 12 foot meyers, decked out with platforms and all, to be more like a bass boat, than just a row boat. ken will in the front, and bob will be in the back of the boat. give us a shout.

If you guys hit VanEtten try the eastern shore line. There are great weedbeds in 5 to 6 ft of water. Topwater and Yamamoto grubs will get Large and Smallmouth
good call dan.
didnt get this post til we got back, but we did hit van ettan yeasterday evening. went all the way left from the launch, to try to avoid traffic. fished the right side of the island and got one very nice 19 largemouth on a senko just outside weed bed. across lake got a 17 inch smallie walking the dog with a zara puppy. wasnt alot of fish, but they were quality for sure.
worth another look next year for sure.
