Hay guys after working every single Saturday since the dk open i have finally wrangled a Saturday off for fishing with the club that my day off didn't fall on! And didn't have to sell my soul to the man either lol. It's called sick of management and burning a sick day. So I am looking forward to fishing with everybody and also fishing the river for bass the first time. Always fished for walleyes there and don't know the first thing about fishing for bass there. So see you all there.
See you there.
Here are a few suggestions. (Admittedly though Mark and Rev, just to name a few, know way more about this than I do, ) A lot of the channel fishing is in 20 to 40 feet of water.
I'll take my drop shot rod and will no doubt use mostly 5/8 oz weights.
I'll use the Nemesis 3" goby, the drop shot tubes from Xtreme tackle, and I'll try some Gulp Gobies this year.
On my tube rod I'll probably have mostly 3/8 oz weights on it. For tubes I use Xtreme tubes. I'll start out with 5" tubes, but I'm sure that 4" will also be used.
Both tubes and drop shots I'll try and keep as vertical as I can when I use them. "Walleye jigging for Bass". This seems to aid in bite detection, bait presentation to the Bass, and it keeps me from getting snagged on bottom.
I've never tried the 3 way rig that Wayne Carpenter talks about, before, but this year, I'm going to try it. On the business end of the 3 way I'll use a twin tail hula grub on a 2/0 worm hook.
For line, I use braid, with fluorocarbon leaders tied in with a uni to uni knot.
Again, I'm not the expert, but these are what I'll use.
Well after a grueling month of renovating our new church, the work is finally over and I'm looking forward to taking some time off to get out there! I will be there for this event and can't wait to get back on the water. In fact, I may get out on Wednesday of this week if all goes according to plan. See ya'll there.
I'll be out of town that weekend. Catch some PIGS !!!!
I'll be there for sure - after being boatless most of the summer, I'm looking forward to some easy fishing in the river!
would you guys mind if me and my buddy dave tag along .
The more the merrier! Looking forward to having you guys along.
Come one come all lol!
I am really looking forward to the 23rd. It was one of my best days on the water last year and I am for sure in as a non boater.

Time: 6AM (per our spring meeting)
Steve De Graeve - Not fishing - on vacation
Hi Guys,
Sign me up as a boater (Canadian & Walpole) for now but I may have to back out. My son starts school again soon but I can't remember which day I have to haul all his stuff up there. I'll check and post it as soon as I know.
The channels have been fishing very tough so far this year (at least for me). Tom and I were up there last week and we did just "so-so" but it's been hit or miss for the most part. Even on my best day we haven't got into them like last year and the bigger fish are hard to come by. The lakes been fishing the same way. >:(
Mark
I don't think I will be there. Not sure what my plans are at this point, if something changes I will let you know.
I am way out of sync with what the lake is doing. I totally missed the pattern in the BFL last weekend. I had shallow cranking fish going and then deep (14 - 15) weeds as a backup. Tx morning I could not find a fish on the crank (although Chip won it on cranks) and my deep fish were just dinks. Never found the big bite out deep like so many of the guys did. The wind howled for 4 straight days - I have never been so sick of wind in my life.
Seth
This whole year has been very windy, I would rather fish in the rain any day than the wind.
I can go either as a boater or non.

I believe it is the Algonac ramp. Map: http://tinyurl.com/6j2czt
It is the ramp just on the outskirts of Algonac. Marine City is farther north up the St. Clair River.
Coming from the west it is about .25 miles past the Harsen's Island Ferry, and the entrance is across the street from a Wendy's and a Sub Way.
For those of you who have never launched there before, it is a shallow ramp for quite a ways out into the Channel.
Also there is a Krogers across the street, actually at the light at the entrance to the ramp, which is pretty handy. I was just up there 2 weeks ago for 3 days. Quiet ramp, but beware when they come to pump out the restrooms. OH MY! Didn't really notice a problem with water depth, or traffic.
Cool I know where it is now. can I hit it from the I 94
new baltimore exit or is it better from the next one up?
my name is chris . count me in but my buddy dave cant make it . what launch should I go to
I don't remember the exit numbers, but DON"T use the first Algonac exit off I-94. There is construction and you can't turn left off the exit. We got off there and had to get back on 94 west to turn around then go up to the next one.
Here is the way we went there last time, that early in the morning traffic shouldn't be too bad:

and the way we came back (no traffic but longer):

I would say they took about the same amount of time.
If possible, my father and I would be more than happy to join you, although we would need a boater. We can provide gas money, food, etc. as necessary.
-NBB
On an interesting side note, that ramp in Algonac was the first time I've seen border patrol at a launch site. You guy's have fun and be safe. I love fishing that area.
As of today I can make it next Saturday. I can make it as a boater or non, but want you to know that I've never fished there before (as a boater and non). Looking forward to it though!
Andy
Im in as a non-boater. I dont have my Canadian or Walpole Licenses. Chris (bender) want to meet up and car pool?
I won't be attending. Have fun!
23 mile road is closed to right hand turns from 94 and down to one lane I would say the marine city ramp would be the best choice you can take marine city highway all the way there. just let me know what time and ramp and im in for sure as a boater. I have an open spot in the boat for a non boater with a canadian. thanks
;D ;D
Ill be there with 2 poles and a US bus pass. Usually have my CN but I just didnt enter enough tournaments this year to justify. We can pair em up best in the mornin.
Mike
I need to know what launch to go to can someone help me
Guys,
Are pairings made prior to, or during the morning of the fishing? In essence, do you just show up then your paired, or are you supposed to pair prior to fishing?
-NBB
If you really want to fish with someone in particular, then you make your own pairings.
Usually, right about now, somebody like Tom, does the pairings.
I'll be there, as a non boater, US waters only.
I will be in if my father and I could ride in the same boat since he uses most of my plastics, rods, etc. If so, where and when should we meet?
-NBB :)
still need a ramp .Algonac is free.
I would say to stay with Algonac.
1. To change it now, we might miss somebody.
2. It is accessable to more US waters, including the lake if you are inclined.
3. If you get off at I believe it's 26 mile rd, go towards Marine City, to Palms rd., turn Right. When it ends, turn left and that will take you to the Algonac Ramp.
Something has come up and I am quite bummed that I will not be able to make Saturday morning. I want to see posts of many, large fish caught. You guys have fun!

Dane & Scott? (NBB)
Algonac Ramp at 6 A.M. as per the schedule. If it is too dark maybe we can discuss our plan of attack for a few minutes before launching.
Is this list correct?
Sorry I haven't posted. I've been out of town all week. Yes, the best way to get to the N. Channel Ramp is to take 26 Mile to Palms. Turn right and take it to the end and turn left back on to 23 (or whatever it's called up there). Then follow it around to the ramp. Rick is correct. It's faster than taking 23 all the way there anyway. It's not much of a ride to Fawn from there on the water, so I think it's an all around good launch for this event, especially for the US only guys.
Looking forward to it! David, sorry you can't make it. I know you were looking forward to it. If you get a weekday off, call me and we'll go fishin'!
Regarding pairings, we'll have to pair up the guys who can only fish US waters. Usually we pair up the week prior, but we haven't yet. We're real casual about it, so if there's someone you prefer to fish with, just say so.
How about we all figure out what water we can fish. I will be fishing both Canada and the US sides. So I prefer a partner for that day with both licenses.
NBB, no problem. We'll get you and your dad on a boat together. I'm glad you guys can make it.
Here's my best guess regarding licenses. Guys, help fill in the blanks.
Boaters:
Tom - US/Canada
Jack - US/Canada
Mark - US/Canada
Eric - US Only
Andy - US Only
Chris - csfishslayer - US/Canada
Chris - US/Canada
Bob - US/Canada
Nonboaters:
Mike S. - US Only
Rick - US Only
Rob - ??
Brian L. - US Only
Dane & Scott? (NBB) - US Only
Hmm... maybe this will end up being US only waters anyway...
US only for me. Also, I only have one jacket on my boat (usually fish alone, sorry). So if I have a nonboater, please bring a life jacket if you can. Thanks.
Andy
I will be bringing my boat. Also,I can fish Michigan,Canada, and Walpole.
Bob Galloway
Guys,
My father and I discussed this and decided we will be able to make it Saturday. Thanks for the extra effort to get both of us in the same boat. Also, we have US licenses only due to the short notice.
Again, thank you and I look forward to gettin' those smallies!
-NBB and Dad :)
US /Canada . I will fish most of the time in canada
I'm good for Canada, but not Walpole. But I can stay in U.S. waters too if needed.

That's 8 Boaters and 6 NB's. But Dane and Scott want to ride together with their boater. Who's got a larger boat and is good with 3 guys that day?
It'll make for a slower fishing day, but I'll be willing to stay on the US side since most if not all our NB's don't have Canadian licenses.
With the lopsidedness in the boater ratio, are there any boaters willing to go as nonboaters Saturday? I prefer not to. Too much junk to haul out of my boat. :)
Canadian walpole and U.S. for me Tom
I will be there. We are "kidless" this weekend ;D (sent them to REEL_MAN's house!) so my wife is going to join me as my partner for the day.
Seth
Good deal Seth looking forward to seeing you out there!

Okey doke... no one wants to do pairings, so I'll give it a stab. I hate doing this... ???
Let's see. I'll fish with Roland Martin... oops, I was giving my fantasy pairings.. doh!

Jack/Dane/Scott
Tom/Schoeman - I DO NOT FEAR THE SCHOEMAN EFFECT!!! ;D he he he

If any of the 3 remaining boaters want to fish together, that would help. I could then take the 3rd guy on my boat with me and Schoeman to fill up all the boats and leave no one fishing alone.
Remaining un-paired boaters
Bob
Eric
Andy
Is everyone cool for lunch at Decker's at noon like last year? A brutha's gotta eat!!!
If need be I can switch . but I need to know asap so I don't drag my boat all the way down there . If you do switch me I would like to ride with someone who has both can/us . I have have good fish in both canada and us . so let me know thanks .
If no one registers an opinion, then we'll have to assume they don't mind boating alone. You'll enjoy fishing with Rob. He's a lot of fun.
I'd prefer someone with a Canadian license if possible. I could go with Bob (as a non-boater) and Rick could go with one of the other boaters with US only.
Hopefully this works for everyone.
Mark
Hi Guys,
A couple people have asked me about dropshot weights and I just wanted to let you know that I'll be bringing some to sell with me in the morning. I have tube jigs also up to 3/8 ounce with 4/0 or 5/0 black nickel or red hooks.
See ya in the morning, Mark
Mark,
You got a price list. Need to get some heavier tube jigs.
Thanks,
Brian
Hey all,
We just picked up another nonboater for the morning. Steve L. will be joining us. That should even things out nicely. Hopefully these pairings work out well.

ello -- What time is everyone fixin to get off the water ? Im 12:30 - 2:00 time frame .... ;D ;D
Has everyone fished with everyone once this year ?
Also - reminder - I have an elderly friend in Mendon whose wife stitches. She made a sample shirt for our club. Has an awesome smallie on it. We would get that emblem on the one side with our club name and our nickname on the other side. Will show y'all in the morning.... ;D ;D ;D
Hey Mike,
There are quite a few guys, including you, that I haven't fished with yet since I've only made a couple of the outings this year.
The good thing is the year isn't over yet and hopefully the fishing will get better.
Around 2:00 works for me, unless the fish are jumping in the boat.
Mark
