I know this has been up before, but in a quick look online at the Fishing Rules I didn't see where it was listed. Am I correct that in lakes like Muskegon, and specifically Portage Lake in Onekama where it is open to Lake Michigan that drop shotting is not allowed, I believe they classify these as "swollen rivermouths." Where in the regs is it listed.
Thanks
illegal in drown river mouths subsequent river systems... such as Musk, White, Pentwater etc...
caveot being once you've cleared the beach line from within the pier heads you are technically in lake michigan... which is great lake and drop shotting is legal again. makes perfect sense right? :D
I'd like to expand on that rule in relation to tournaments. If someone was dropshotting in a drowned rivermouth, is that grounds for disqualification?
Only if the TX rules state that they must follow all local and state laws.

Anyone who knowingly breaks a state regulation should be dq'd by a tournament director. Why take that chance when there are plenty of legal and unquestionable options available?
If we can figure out a way to get people to quit snagging illegally in the rivers, we could probably do away with the limitations.

it all boils down to common sense.... who snags a 20lb salmon with 6lb flurocarbon? lol.
I've been told more than once I expect way too much common sense and logic from the world to ever by truly and completely happy... but I've also been told you are who you... so we do the best we can with what we have. Which I think means, we need to figure out a way around the snagging problems to open up the whole state to drop-shotting.
