Title: WHITE LAKE HELP PLEASE!!!
Post by: Gbass on June 30, 2008, 10:28:27 AM
ok we got a tournament comming up in a few weeks and i had one chance to pre fish this lake saturday and boy was it hard fishing.I threw everything in the boat and caught 3 fish in about 10 hours! thats tough fishing.

i am looking for largemouth or smallies i threw a few colors of tubes for some smallies and nothing!!. i caught all my largmouth on lizard and one on a texas rigged brown worm with green tail.

i have been in michigan for about 3 months now and moved from florida fishing is alot different up here.I did pretty well first 2 tournaments now i have very little confidence going into this tournament.i had marked a few spots on the gps of some underwater channels and ledges and something just wasnt right i didnt even get a hit on those spots.I should have killed the bass on those spots they were prime!!

so please  can anyone give me some pointers on what i should throw at them hell just put me in the ball park!!,i threw all kinds of cranks, spinners, jigs, soft bait, top water,   i was very frustrated at the end of the day usually between me and my pops we can figure the fish out!  not on this lake, he told me he has never been very good on white lake so the confidence is very very low going into the tournament.

someone please throw me a bone here please!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your talking about the White up close to Muskegon, senko 5", green pumkin, wacky. Or 10" worm texas 3/16oz weight.
Work them slow and watch your line

Just to clarify White Lake in Northern Muskegon county, right?  Are you fishing BBT out there or something else?

If that is one you are talking about here are a couple of things you should know.

Keep in mind this is only one guys opinion.  You are tarketing mainly Large Mouth.  I have seen a couple smallies come out there but it is very rare.  Most of the fish on White relate to the grass in the lake.  Either right in the heart of it or along the edges.  In the past I have had success on lipless baits ripped through the grass in varied depths.  You can also punch through the matted grass for bites.  The top water bites are normally good on buzzbaits and poppers on the exspansive grass flats and grass points.  In the past I have caught a lot of fish within the no wake area.  There is a lot of old docks and slab wood along the south / east shore of the no wake zone.  I go to baits out there are a T-rig beaver or lizard, deep crank bait, jig and the top water baits already mentioned.  I know many guys will find fish the marinas and docks around the lake.

I was talking with another guy this weekend about White Lake and we both agreed there is a ton of un-productive water.  It is deep and clear and relative to it's size has very little deep water structure or ledges.  I haven't been out there this year yet with my SI unit so I may change my tune.

I hope this helps.  I will probably get out there the weekend of the 12th if you want to go along get a hold of me.

i talked to some schmuck this weekend that said the same thing....

i like to find the magical "8-12 FOW" weed flat. out there. There's a few of them and they will produce.

also.. a fluke pulled through the shallower weed flats will usually produce a limit of small fish if you get desperate.

yes, that and you can't say "****" on here. ;D

from the sounds of it, the guys that were out there on sunday got a lot of shorts. so as expected its probably slowed down a lot... i think i will be spending a lot of time in a small area being very thorough......

only had 4 fish  bringing in 9 pounds  had a few nice  ones on but those dont count lol.

fished seinkos early  got a nice 3.8 pound largemouth  then the rest on lizards,i fished jigs, crankbaits etc i think i could have did well but the wind picked up and then i couldnt realy fish the seinko the way i like to.

i still hate that lake lol i guess its cause i cant figure the darn fish out there lol.

well  the grand river is next from what i heard its just as tuff fishing i have had  good days on caddilac and muskegan lake but  i hope my season dont go down in flames cause i cant figure these last few lakes out.

Man I love White Lake.  Weighed in nearly 14 lbs there back in late June at the Kellogsville tourney... good enough for 3rd place and decent money.  We got most of our fish on senkos IN THE WEEDS that day.  And I meen IN the weeds.
