I fished the Grand last night with my future Brother-in-Law, novice fisherman, but we had a good time. After all the rain and high water it has definitely changed! The water isn't high anymore but it is still muddy. Muddier then normal in June. Many of the down trees that were once there are are gone. Like my favorite lay down tree in Indian Channel, always held a fish or two, gone. Other familiar sites still there but a lot are gone or have been moved to I don't where. I didn't run the entire river so I don't know the extent of changes or damage. I would guess that it will take some time before all the normally good spots come back.
To end on a high note we did find a few good fish one top water frogs. My Bro-in-Law had a couple of monster bites but could not get them hooked up and to the boat. It can be kind of a hard bite to manage with medium-heavy spinning tackle and not a lot of experience.
