Hay guys went out today out of 9 mile and fished the GPYC and dumping grounds, and finally seen some fishfly slicks forming pretty good but about a mile out. Had good luck in about 12-15fow using spinnerbaits with painted and nickel/brass blades. couple fish hitting on the fall and they were nice big toads. All smallies and 1 largie and a 7lb pike. went out to 400 club and picked up some more smallies in 10 to 15fow. Most of the hits were short strikes, thank god for trailers. Couple hits on plastics but mostly on s.b's and rattletraps. Thats it for now. Going back out Tuesday but trolling for muskies. See you all Saturday. Good luck out there and be safe.
I was out on Friday and Saturday. Friday we caught an even 50, but most of them were small fish. I was out with a friend and his 11 year old son for his birthday. I wanted them to catch a lot, so we just fished the mile roads so we could get good numbers. I went out again on Saturday and found some bigger fish up shallow. Who knows why the fish were up there, but we managed a couple of 4's and a 3 up in the real shallow stuff. Most of them seemed to want a tube on the bottom. I was using the brown craw color Xtreme tube for the first time. I was very impressed with this color. It outfished every other color that day.
What's the weather look like for Saturday down there?
Chance of rain and t-storms, but right now it's only 40%. Things change so rapidly though...we'll have to keep an eye on it as the weekend approaches.
Has the wind been okay for us to fish the south shore?
Here's the latest from the NWS ...they know more than I do...looks like we'll have a southerly wind. This was cut and pasted...I'm really not yelling.
TIMING DIFFERENCES CONTINUE FOR THE SATURDAY SYSTEM...BUT SOLUTIONS CONTINUE WITH AN EXTREMELY DYNAMIC SYNOPTIC SETUP ACROSS THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES. LATEST
PASSAGE DURING THE AFTERNOON/PEAK HEATING. INSTABILITY WILL DEPEND ON MORNING ACTIVITY/DEBRIS BUT WITH AN ADVERTISED UPPER LEVEL JET MAX OF AROUND 90 KNOTS PASSING OVERHEAD IT APPEARS SEVERE WEATHER WILL AGAIN BE POSSIBLE. HIGHS SATURDAY SHOULD CLIMB A TOUCH ABOVE 80.
Cheers...see ya on Saturday.
You can tell who the scientist in the group is! Was that English?
The wind today is out of the Northeast, but barely blowing. Lots of South wind this past week, so the South Shore should be ok at the moment.

:o HUH?!
What he said was:
Pack your rain gear just in case.
Wear shorts and a T shirt underneath.
Bring sun screen, and polarized sunglasses.
Dramamine if you're so inclined.
Keep one eye on the sky. Better yet, fish with someone that has the internet on their cell. They can call up the weather service, and see the radar picture as it happens.
Yep...the science teacher would be me...and i happen to teach meteorology.
Fiker can translate ... he's a science teacher too! ;D
