Cannot make it on the 21st! Wish I could though....

Still cannot make it.....

95% sure I can make it, boater. This will be MI waters only correct?
Also is this the 21st or 28th? On the schedule it is 28, doesn't matter to me.

Yes, my mistake.  On my personal calendar, I have it down on the 21st for some reason, but you are correct Chris, the schedule says the 28th.  Sorry for the mistake.

The 28th - LSC - 5:30am

Ooops.

Well then I'm confused because on my calendar here at home it says the 21st.

Did we say the 21st and change it at a later date?

We fished it last year on the 28th.  That's what it says on the 2007 schedule.
I'll plan on being there whichever day it is as a non-boater.

The post you refer to did say 2007 schedule, but it was just a typo, it's the 2008 schedule.  It is an exact mirror to the post where we set the schedule a while back at: http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?topic=3523.0

Rick, yep I noticed in that post that it was originally on the 21st, but we changed it to the 28th at the last meeting for whatever reason.

So everyone, please review the schedule and update your calendars.

Hey all,
Joe asks a good question... Since it's the opening day for Canada, where should we launch?  If we launched at St. Jean, it's just a short hop to the Canadian South Shore (where I hope to be fishing), but it's also a quick ride up to the Grosse Pointe Shores area for those who prefer to stay in US waters.

Speaking of that question, who is fishing that will NOT be getting a Canadian license?  We should pair up those who don't want to fish Canada.

In as non boater and have canadian license allready!

I should be able to make it.  Please add me as boater and fishing Canadian water.  Walpole is also open at that time correct?  If so I'll be trying to get both licenses.

Just got an email that Eric is in as a boater, US water only.

Hey, who's this BassPlr guy?  ha ha  Shane, I'm glad you're gonna be there.

I heard from MIBasser today (Andy) and I think he'll also be a boater that day.  Not sure if Canadian or US only for him.  Hopefully he'll be posting that here soon.

I'd rather fish US only, but if its a burden I can buy the Canadian license.

I'll be in as a boater for MI waters.  What ramp will we be going out of?  I will be looking for a little help as I've only been on the water once at the DK Open....

I'm ok with either ramp St. Jean or Ballard.  St. Jean would probably be best but since I've never been there I will need directions please.

St Jean works for me.
Title: Re: Register for June 28th

Hey guys, here's what I have so far:

Boaters:
Seth - US/Canada
Shane - US/Canada
Tom - US/Canada
Chris - US/Canada
Eric - US only
Andy - US only
Joe ??

Non-boaters
Luke - US/Canada
David - US/Canada
Rob - US/Canada
Don - US/Canada
Mark - US/Canada
Rick - US Only

I have not heard back from Jack, Mike.  Steve L. cannot make it.

As for a draw:  I suggest fishing with whoever you like.  Luke and Tom already talked about fishing together.  I imagine since Eric and Rick are fishing US waters only, they will probably end up together.  At this time we could use a few more nonboaters.  Otherwise there will be guys fishing alone.

BTW- I can't do the pairings.  I'm way too busy at the moment, so if you all could handle it amongst yourselves, that would be great.  We're obviously heavy on the boater side.

Don/Joe - Boaters or nonboaters?  US, Canada??

The Launch
Everyone that weighted in said St. Jean.  So we're officially launching at St. Jean.  It's plenty safe, but remember, if you're bringing a boat, it's $10 to launch there.  There's a man on duty all day, so there shouldn't be any problems with our vehicles.  Take 94 West from 696.  Take 94 to Connor and turn East.  Not far down the road, you'll veer off onto St. Jean.  Take St. Jean until it ends and turn left, then take the next right and you'll drive right into the ramp area.  I suggest Mapquesting it.  See you all there at 6am.

I can also do the pairings since I haven't taken my turn yet Let me know if you've already made arrangements to fish with someone.

Could the people going please PM me your phone number in case I have to get a hold of you.

See ya'll on the water

Thanks, Mark

Any no-boaters have Walpole licences?  If we have a north wind, or have had a north wind the S Canada shore will be muddy - and when it is muddy it is a no-go.  If I don't find anything really great, I plan to run across the lake to the N Shore/Walpole area.  No big deal if nobody has Walpole licence, I don't have to go up there, but at the end of June there should be some big dumb ones up in the ditches chasing bait post-spawn.

Man, these license prices are killing me!  If the South Shore is muddy or if there is predicted to be a North wind that day, I suggest we consider keeping our options of what ramp we launch at flexible.  If the South Shore is wasted, I'm sure everyone would prefer to save the gas money by launching at the cutoff.  Maybe we can make that call as that Saturday approaches.  Just a thought.  I hope the South Shore is good that day because I'm eager to see what it's like in the spring!

Hi Guys,

Here's what I have right now. If you've already fished with someone and want to change, let me know ASAP.

Boater - Non-Boater

Tom - Luke  US/Canada/?
Seth - Mark  US/Canada/Walpole
Shane - Rob  US/Canada/Walpole
Jack - Don  US/Canada/Walpole
Chris - Dad  US/?
Eric -Andy and/or Rick  US Only

Sorry Eric, Andy and Rick but I don't want to limit the guys that have bought Canadian & Walpole licenses. Maybe another boater with US ONLY will call or show up.

If for some reason you can't make it please let me know ASAP so we can pair up other people as needed.

Eric, I need your phone number.

Thanks, Mark

I'm out.

ProXS is broke.  Went out tonight between the storms.  Ran fine for my first run up the lake.  Went to make another run and it would not get up on pad.  Just went into power-limiting mode.

Man I miss my good old reliable 225 EFI right about now...

Took it over to Wilson Marine and they say 3 to 5 days to get it back.  Great.

Anyone know any other good smart and fast Merc Service Centers?

Hi all...I'll fish with whomever...Rick and I will still plan to drive out together.  I'll fish with Rick or whoever else wants to hopin my boat...just let me know.  If it helps, I could be a non-boater.

Looks like lotsa rain and possible storms...any contingency for a rain out?  Do you even have rain dates?  Hate to drive an hour and burn the gas and then not fish.

my home phone is 248-446-3120 (unlisted...lets keep it that way, and before 8pm please)
my cell is 248-444-4395  just about anytime
messages are fine at either #

Umm...just wondering if we should reschedule this weekends tourney considering some people are having boat troubles?  We can still do it or not.  I'm ok either way.  I just thought I'd ask everyone.  Weather could be a little iffy at this point too.  Thunderstorms and 30 mph gusts from the SW.  I'm sorry to hear Jack and Seth are having problems.

Wanna just move it to the 12th?  I'm ok with whatever.  If it's gonna be nasty and we won't have enough boats, maybe we should just postpone.  The weather report seems to be getting worse.  How about we all just go out for wings on Saturday just for fun?  BW2 in Novi??  Whatever you all decide about Saturday is fine with me.

Wings sound good to me.... I'm not a huge fan of crappy weather on a large lake... :-(  I'm good for the 12th as well.. But someone needs to make the call.... REV , Jack whomever just not me..lol

why don't we play it by ear and make the call tomorrow evening around 6 or 7? Maybe we will have a better handle on the weather by then.? I don't want to go in dangerous conditions but I am pretty psyched to try Canada since I have never been there before.

I'll talk with Tom tomorrow (Friday) and make a call early in the afternoon. It may be best to reschedule.

I just barely got off the lake in time before tonights storm hit with 40+ mph winds.

The 12th looks good for me...and so do wings at Bdubs.  That'd be my vote.

Might be that I can get the Canadian License by then...that might ease up the pairings?

Let me know...and thanks.

Hey Guys,

Due to possible thunderstorms (60-70% chance) with a possibility of them being severe, tomorrows event is CANCELED. It is being rescheduled for July 12th. I'll start a new post so people can sign up. Any questions, give me a call.

Anyone that still wants to meet up at Buffalo Wild Wings in Novi can post on here.

Hopefully the next event will have more stabil weather and a better bite. FYI I fished there last Tuesday from 8 until 1:30 and the bite started out slow but progressed as the day went on with the bigger fish being caught later in the day. We probably caught 40-50 with the biggest about 3 pounds but most were the 1-1 1/2 pounders found everywhere on the lake. We saw bigger fish cruising but didn't hook up with any. The best presentation was a dropshot rig along with a Canadian Mist 2 1/2" tube since the bottom was covered with snot grass (moss).

Have a happy 4th of July!

Be Safe, Mark
