Title: Batteries
Post by: stackenem on February 17, 2006, 07:30:19 PM
How do you store your batteries for the winter? I put mine in the basement and charge them every 30 days is this over kill. Can I leave them in the boat with the charger plugged in or will this take away from the life?

Most chargers have a maintenance mode, and you can actually leave them plugged in to the batteries 24/7.  I still have to get mine out of the boat! :-\'

There should be no reason to have to take them out of the boat.
I just put the charger on every month or so.
I'm not sure if every charger is made to stay plugged in all the time.  You should make sure the charger is designed for that before you do it.

I leave em in all winter outside - charge them up full when you put them away, and then about every 4-6 weeks top them off depending on how cold out it is - I would not suggest leaving them plugged in 24/7 even in maintenance mode, no real need.
