Hi all,
Every year about 10-15 guys from our church go on a fishing charter. Usually we go to Grindstone City for Salmon and Lakers. This year we're considering taking our guys bass fishing for the first time. One option is to hire local guides, which we may do. However, I was thinking how cool it would be to get some of our GLB members who know a certain body of water (maybe Saginaw Bay) to take these guys out for a day. This is just an idea I'm kicking around. Normally we do our trip in July or August.
Are there any interested boaters who would be able to put our guys on fish in late July/early August on Saginaw Bay? If I can get at least 5 or 6 boats, we may be able to pull this off.
I'm open to another lake, but I'd like it to be away from SE MI so that it's a trip for them. We'll be overnighting it at a campground.
The 3 potential dates are: June 28, July 26, or August 2
Thats a tough time of year on the bay, August is usually the worst month of the year for rough water. Fish are usually deep by then, so you'll either be on them or not. I consider 17-18lbs a good day that time of year, it's nothing compared to the spring or fall. I always have to put my time in to get on them good in the summer, a ton of dead water that all looks good. The classic series is up there July 13th so that will give you some idea of what to expect. I'll be glad to help out if I'm available. Also, Cheeseburger in Caseville is August 9-17 so the Caseville-Port Austin area will be packed those weekends.

FYI, the best launch for bass fishing it Bayshore in bayport. Augres if you go out of the north side.

We're open to a fall date if you have any suggestions. We should be able to re-work our summer schedule, especially if we can get a few boats to help out. Thanks!
i am a licensed captain,,,
i can take a couple guys on st clair/st clair river that time of year and get on some decent fish... there should be enough fish for a couple boats in the same area,,, they could stay at the algonac state park/campgounds, let me know, derrek
That sounds great. But we're all from the East side and fish St. Clair all the time. Our goal would be to get a couple of hours away on a new body of water. Thanks for offering to help though. I'd like it to seem like a trip away for the fellas. Most of us are from the Eastpointe, Roseville, St. Clair Shores area.
Thanks again Derrek, that was nice of you to offer to help out. Hope to meet you at the DK Open if you're there.
