So what is the gas price where you are right now and where do you think they will peak at this year.
I am in Howell and right now the cheapest is $3.37 at Sunoco. I hear it will hit $4.00 before easter and $4.50 by mid summer.
$3.45 almost everywhere in NW Ohio. I heard oil hit $108.00 a barrel. Hopefully the next administration will get things headed back in the right direction. Those tax tax rebate checks will sure help to stimulate the economy, if your an oil compnay.
I drive a diesel and have been paying $3.99.9 to $4.09.9 for a week now >:(
I bought the dang thing 5 years ago becouse diesel was always cheaper ???
was sitting in milford on my way home from work and looked at the speedway and it was 3.37 for Reg and 4.00 for diesel. guess 4.00 is not far away. going to be an expensive summer.
I'm thinking that storing my boat with a full tank was a good idea. I can siphon it out to fill my truck!! ;D
I am waiting for a hybrid outboard... ;D..I will definetly be making some adjustments to my fishing schedule if gas prices don't settle down...I am glad I work and live within 20 miles of LSC and the SCR.
Filled my truck for $3.17 a gallon this morning. This afternoon put $40 in the van at $3.31. This is getting ridiculous. >:(
BD ;D
About the same here in Ann arbor. I here they only pay 12 cents a gallon in iraq what the heck. Is this right or have I been told bad info.
Diesel 4.14 and going up. Sure glad I decided to tow a tandem rig around the state.

i did the same thing, only i bought mine last august.... when diesel was 2.80. i put in less than a half tank yesterday for 40$... that'll get me about 2 trips to work and back. Looks like i'm driving my wifes lime green vw bug for a while.... i can get a weeks worth of commuting in 10 gallons of gas from that at least.
3.39 and only going up-the ice isn't even gone yet...?? someting wrong when it takes 50$ to fill up a ranger....
QuoteThis is getting ridiculous. Angry
Its been ridiculous for a number of years already. Consumption has gone down, more plastic (oil) is recycled more than ever, people are avoiding driving when possible and it still goes up. Does anyone else felt like they're bent over a table and ...
ummmm...no...but it feels like a slap in the face :/
I bought my first diesel pickup about 4 years ago. Thought I would make up the difference in the cost of the engine over the life of the truck in fuel savings. Boy was I wrong! My first tank of fuel was $1.49 per gallon. Now it is nearing $4.00. Do you see anything wrong with this picture? I know I shouldn't be upset with the attendant at the gas station, but I have a real hard time being polite to them when I feel like I am being taken advantage of by their employers. I just can't believe that the cost has more than doubled in 4 years.

you must be taking Ford Ranger Pick-up. my Ranger has a 45 gallon tank. glad it is full now in storage. might be a good year to fish Kent with the electric motor. call it a hybrid boat and maybe get a tax break.
I was a Bush fan before, but this is ridiculous. No kind of breaks for us, and now they are considering raising the taxes on oil companies!!! Who do you think is going to pay that tax!! Not them, that's for sure.

OK Ya'll you aint gunna believe this but check it out. I have a good friend who works 8 months at a time in Saudi Arabia. Over there they have all the oil they will ever need. They change their oil in their cars once a month and the filter. They get 750,000 to over a million miles on their car engines.
Now for the klingker. They have been driving a lot of their motorcycles on hydrogen bottles screwed in under the seats for several years now. Seems that hydrogen is the same as propane with the injectors and all. Change the engin over to propane and hydrogen works the same. Just keep tra ding out the small empty tanks for full ones and off they go. He has been working on his own hydrogen generator to run his home and cars. He keeps having a problem with the regulator valve after he seperates the hydrogen and oxygen. He is making to much hydrogen for his point of use need.
Just letting everyone know the technology is out there right now if you want to invest in it.
Lots to think about.....Why havent any of the candidates started talking about this or what they will do about it. OOPs thats politics....sorry about that. IS IT ICE OUT YET?

I don't have time right now to type a long answer, but this is BS. Sorry, not true on both accounts.
Changing your oil more often will not extend the life of the engine, as long as the oil is still in good condition and clean. In super dusty conditions, you may be required to change it more often, but changing it often just for the fun of it is a waste of time.
The Hydrogen thing is even more silly. You don't just "screw in" a bottle of H2 like propane. Propane tanks have a max pressure of 325 psi (NFPA code) and H2 can run well over 10,000 psi. Also, the fuel range you would get out of a small bottle of H2 is so tiny that you could not drive very far. I can give you numbers if you like, but trust me (and my patents on H2 technology) - they, nor anyone else is using H2 for comercial use right now.
H2 reforming is not complicated technology. When you run a PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cell in reverse (put in water and electricty) you get H2 and O2 out. Problem becomes in H2 storage and the ecconomics. Can't beat the 2nd law of thermo. It takes you more energy to reform and package the H2 than you will get out of it when you consume the H2. Small scale reformers are just not practical. I won't even get into the cost and duability issues....
Also, H2 is NOT the same on injectors as Propane (even at equal pressures). H2 tends to cause metals to become brittle - even SS. It is possible, but it is not the same as propane.

Am I mistaken? Aren't there oil companies that do not import their oil? I thought companies like BP and Marathon were mostly self reliant, maybe importing a small fraction of their use. If these other companies don't have to pay that $108.00+ per barrel oil prices, then why do they raise their gas prices as if they do? (STUPID QUESTION)
WEEEE! I was wondering when our yearly gas prices conversation was gonna start. ;D ;D ;D (Just jokin' fellas)
But seriously, I hate to see this become a political discussion, but if anyone's been watching the news, Bush went and pleaded with OPEC to increase oil production and they said NO. Maybe it's time to push for oil independence and start blaming OPEC for being unwilling to increase production.
SO who is going to tow my boat around Lk. St. Clair for the DK open? I don't think my TM will make it all the way around the lake.LOL
I don't want any H2 cylinder between my legs while riding... ;D
We need a better Public transportation system...If I could take a Bus to work every day and it was economical and convenient I would do it in a heartbeat..
I am going to start selling Sails and Masts for Bass Boats that fit into the Front and rear pedestals....I will start taking orders soon..
I'll take the double wing with the pirate symbol painted in blue and white!!!!

How hard does the wind have to be blowing for me to get on plane???
I think I'm just going to down size ;)

Sorry about that, I guess you can't belive everything you hear or see. In 1981 thru 1984 there was two fellows in Phx, Az test driving a H2 fueled car at the Phoenix International Raceway doing laps to make up miles for their road test. They had to use the raceway for testing because the state of Arizona did not have a way to get highway use tax from H2 so they were not allowed to road the vehicle like Ford, GM, IH, Toyota and all the others with prooving grounds in AZ. I worked as a paramedic at the time and they were not allowed on the track without us being there. From talking with them, at the time they said they were using the same systems as LP. As far as the buddy in Saudi well take it for what it was worth.
Put me in for the sail and I want the skull and cross bones on my sales also. Maybe I could get Johnny Depp to sit in as co-angler. he could CO for me but the boss will want him to CO for her, so I'll be out on the bank again.

Yeah, it is gonna hurt. 30 gal for the truck, 50 gal for the boat! Yikes!! That is like 300 bucks!!! :o :o
its definately a pay to play sport :-\'
$200 entry fee(or higher $1500 to $3000), $300 per day or $600 for a longer run for $2000 or $5000 purse or much less for the smaller tournaments. Gosh I sure am glad this is a hobby. Catch and release. Can't even eat our catch. Looks like I'll be buying more of the "Food Source" baits so I don't have to stop at Subway on my way to the lake. Free packets of catsup and I'm good to go.

Don't forget the $34/gallon for outboard oil if you have an Optimax! >:(
It is getting rediculous!
lol, so pre-ocupied with gas, forgot the oil-ok $306.00 ..... ???
It just occurred to me that if they could design a methane powered outboard, most of us here would have no fuel challenges whatsoever. At least that's been my experience fishin' with many of ya'll. :P FREE GAS FOR EVERYONE!
Might give a literal meaning to the phrase "hole shot."
doesn't stop the bleeding, but may help some slow it down a little.

Dude, don't do that to me. Made me spit my coffee out all over my shirt! ;D
paid 3.09 yesterday in lapeer at the w mart went by today it was 3.28
I don't know if you guy's have a Krogers grocery store up there, but they have a deal at their gas stations that when you spend so much in grocery's, you get 20 cents per gallon off. Used to be you could get up to 50 cents per gallon off but they changed it in January. I still get my 50 cents off through the end of the month, up to 6 gas purchases, and it really helps.
diesel was 4.19 on my way to work today.. so you all can just quit whining about 3.40.
Well I don't know anything about the oil business, that's for sure. But it just doesn't make any sense to me when oil companies are reporting record BILLIONS (with a 'B') of PROFIT (not earnings!) each quarter, and they have to stick it to us in the rear end when oil prices go up. It would probably make us all puke our guts if we saw the salaries and bonuses the oil executives are pulling down.
But what burns my butt the most about this is how unwilling our government is to step in and do something about it, including that empty bubble headed moron in the Whitehouse. Oh, wow...he went to OPEC and begged them to increase production...wink, wink, nudge, nudge. RIGHT! You can't convince me that his unwillingness to do anything real and concrete isn't because HE IS ALSO PROFITING HAND OVER FIST ALONG WITH THE FREAKIN OIL COMPANIES!! We were warned 8 years ago when that clown took office that he would bankrupt this country. HA HA...guess what? He's danged close to doing it. Foreclosures? Up. Unemployment? Up. Property values? Down. Dollar? Weakest it's ever been. Oh yeah...gas prices? The sky's the limit apparently.
Sorry if I'm offending any Bush supporters. Yeah, I know he's a good ol' boy from Texas and likes to bass fish. But dangit, he's not doing his job now and it's gonna get worse and worse before someone else steps in and stops the bleeding. Oh yeah, gee, thanks for the $600 check George. At $4 a gallon that'll fill the boat three times. Great.
We can whine about gas prices all day and all night long. So I decided to stop whining and take on a new motto besides the one at the bottom of my posts. The motto is:
Catchin' Bass and Burnin' Gas.....That's how I roll!!!
But seriously folks, all high gas prices are going to make me do is fish less tournaments and more for fun with my kids. I won't be fishing any of those high priced expensive tournaments. Won't be worth it. I will stick to my club tournaments and NBAA Oakland One on One for sure. Maybe some NBAA weeknight tournaments depending on where the lakes are. I won't be going to any one division week in and week out.
I got two kids I am going to have to put through college. My kids think I just go out to the money tree in the backyard and pull off $20 bills. ::) This year I am planting $50's and $100's. ::) It's the only way I can keep up with inflation.
BD ;D
I see no end in sight............so I have chosen to re-power this year with a 4-stroke.
BS ;)
UAWBigdog can I buy a couple of seedlings or sprouts from you off the $20.00 and $100.00 trees. I'll try to keep the $20.00 tree hidden from the wife so I can buy fishing stuff and I'll let her have the $100.00 for every thing else. Do you have any special growing instructions or just a healthy dose of miracle grow on a regular basis? Will a growlight help or will it turn the money prematurely brown? Can I water them to much?
Looking forward to getting my order to you. By the way, do you take pay-pal or will you differ payment till the first crop comes in?
yours truly
