Alright everyone set your DVR'sand VCR's and whatever else you record shows on, next weeks Hook-n-Look will be about fishing the St.Clair River fishing deep in the current. This episode will show you how smallmouth really go about taking your jig off the bottom and I can assure you its not what most of us thought. I have a little insight on this show because this episode I was the camera boat.
Kim's guest for the show is our very own Ranger Rep. Pat Kleppert. Kim and Pat will also be using Strike Kings new Coffee Tubes during this show. Be sure that you don't miss this show. Feb. 12 at 5:00am, Feb. 13th at 8:30am and Feb.15th at 3:00pm.
Hook-N-Look airs on the Versus Network
already saw it last week. it was good!
lotsa rock bass!!!! lol.
This is a different episode...The one you saw last week was out in front of Metro Beach...
Hey Mark any GPS coordinates to where he was filming in the river???? ;D ;D Not really, it would just drive me crazy to go there and still get skunked.
HEY!!! I finally figured out how to get my new DVR recordings set!! And I didn't even need a young person to help me ;D
Now, I have to remember to pull up the recording and watch it. I want to see if Kim really uses a flutterblast as an emergency flotation device... (as someone has led me to believe)??
Man, I wish I had Verus channel.
I was asking Kim if he would release the shows on DVD. He thought he might do it. I sure hope does. And soon!
Anyone want to invite me over to watch the show?? :-*
Seth
I mentioned the same thing... about releasing the shows on DVD. Why not?
I apparently get the HD version of Versus and I think I have the recording timer dohickey (technical term, sorry) setup right.
But you don't live near Lansing, so you Seth? I think you live by where I work - in Flint? I'll take notes... Of course, then I'll lay them on a pile somewhere and not see them again for 3 or 4 seasons... but it's the thought that counts, isn't it?!?
I live in Wixom. Just off of I96, close to the Novi Expo Center.
That can be handy, I'll bet. But not for watching Stricker on my TV though...
I tried to tape the 3:00 show today and tennis was on Versus. Drats
Uh-oh. I hope next week is better. That's when it counts!
I think it is also on at 5am...I can't record it at 3pm because that is when my wife's soap is on...and being a smart married man I don't mess with her soap..I guess you have to pick your battles. ::)
You either pick your battles or you go out and get another television with a cable hookup like I did. I have at least two other televisions in my house so that I can watch fishing and the lovely bride can watch soaps and Oprah. The kids can play their video games on the other.
I rushed home from work yesterday to catch it and was disappointed to find that tennis was on. I was bummed. I get off work at 1430 and was home by 1455 just in time to get a beer and settle back in my lazy boy and watch. And then............what the heck is this...........tennis???? Big drag bummer. Anyway I am looking forward to next weeks shows.
BD ;D
Hey - Pat's a STAR!!! And Kim's letting him catch all the bass so far!!! Very nice host letting Pat catching all those bass! In HD!!
Now, Kim is swimming with the fish and playing with zebra mussels!
Whoops!! Gotta go. He's found the 'sweet spot' and my BUDDY - le sheephead!!! ;D
WHOA!! Big Musky going for Kim!!!?!!
Naw... it just swam by...
I was very surprized to see just how clear it was that deep.
Now I know what them smallies are doing when I'm bumping along the bottom like that. Just going with the current and watching... not biting... watching :o
I liked that one, I recorded it on the DVR, the 5:30am one...
It's nice to see Pat on there, now I can actually say that I know someone on TV that actually remembers my name.
joshimoto son ;D
Right you are Bob...
;D :o ;D
Ouch man.... ouch....
That was one sweet show!!! It was pretty cool watching the smallmouths follow the bait, then bolt a few feet ahead of it, and then set up like a goal tender and lead the tube in the current.
They are one goofy fish with sometimes irritating behavior... not that I'll stop trying to catch them!! ;D
Smallies seem to be one of the most curious fish in the water. I saw this a lot when I had my underwater camera. Curious and territorial.
Good show. I liked the footage showing the big drum hanging out with the smallmouth. Proof positive that just because you're catching drum, doesn't mean there aren't any smallmouth in the neighborhood. I would have liked to see some dropshot action though. I'd really like to see how that current effects the action of the bait.
I don't get why VS can't show the program in the evening. Cage fighting too popular?
I love Cage Fighting/MMA. But i do wish Strickers show was on later in the day. The only episode i caught was the Lake St Clair show with the coffee tubes. And the only reason i was able to catch that was becuase i had the day off work and just so happened to check out the daily programming for VS. Would love to catch them all but i aint getting up at 5 am and i dont get home til after 5 pm usually.
McCarter himself :-\'
It was a good show, but he was not giving away any hot spots thats for sure, kinda of a basic level show[draging tubes].but never the less its good to see home town waters being show cased....
This was his best show yet, some great footage. Something about dragging that river, good memories and one of my favorite ways to fish.
He was fishing coffee tubes drifting and dragging the St. Clair River. I taped both St. Clair episodes and have been studying the back grounds when he was fishing both under and on top of the water. ;) I am early for work on Tuesday Mornings so I have been able to catch them then. Awesome show. Best bassfishing show on T.V.
BD ;D
I watched Hook and Look this morning for the first time. I believe they were in Texas somewhere fishing for Largemouth. They had about 90 seconds of film under the lilly pads which was interesting. I thought perhaps 15 to 18 minutes of the rest of the show was a Strike King ad for the Ragin Tail Shad. Nice lookin bait, but I would enjoy some more underwater shots. I'll have to purchse the DVD's on Smallmouth action.
Kim was in Texas not too long ago because I recall getting an email from him about something he read on the forum. I like the underwater stuff and would have liked to see more - there was a few minutes. I don't mind this time of year seeing some of the catching though.
Despite it kind of being an ad for the bait, that was one interesting looking bait...? Hmmm??
Kim is kind of shy so he probably won't post on here and tell us anymore secrets, but he does read most of this stuff every few weeks. I hope he doesn't blame us for wanting more underwater stuff. It's contagious... I did think it was kind of prophetic that we are discussing the challenges of weed knowledge on another thread right now and Kim has a show about weeds the same week...?!? Psycho?? I mean, psychic?!? Or was it somehow planned in advance...????
Hopefully he goes into more weed detail in future shows. Blakstr was telling me that he talks about weeds a bit on his 2nd DVD. I have to go back and watch that again, I guess.
It would be almost too cool to hope for if he would show some different weeds types, name them, and show how fish are relating to them. We can only dream.... ::)
You know... I get some of 'my' (;D) best ideas from all of you...
I have to go make a note in my ideas file...
I just seen this for the first time and loved it. It is the best idea/concept of a fishing show. Very educational.
Yup. It's weird. I watched a 'redo' of Kim's show on Pro Angler Journal - 2 anglers fishing the same exact lure, I'm telling you it looked like - in the same exact water...
BUT without the underwater video. It was okay, but a great deal less interesting with nothing but the guys casting through the weeds and catching, granted, some nice bass, but I've seen that a few times...
Give me the underwater video to go with it :)
