Title: What's the next "Big Thing" in Tackle for 2008?
Post by: Cheetam on January 24, 2008, 09:27:31 AM
We did this last year and it was interesting to see the responses.  The 2008 lines of equipment have been showing up on most of the online retailers' sites and I'm curious...what do you think will be the next "Big Thing" in equipment for 2008?  As an example, in 2007 the must have, in demand bait was the Basstrix Paddle Tail Tube.  In 2006 it was the Chatterbait.  What will have eBayers scurrying to pay 10-20-30 times suggested retail price in 2008?

I think it will be a large swim bait. Keep your eye on the basstrik or the ones used to win the california tournies was the"swimbabe" swim bait in the 10 inch sizes. For what its worth thats my opinion.

I think the swim baits will still be popular.  I don't know that there will be one that will stand out like the Basstrix did.

I think the Lake Fork spoon that Kelly Jordan used in UMF will be hard to get.

I think what ever wins the Classic will be the new hot and hard to get bait.

My money is also on the VibraSpin... that's why I ordered some now while they can keep up with demand and I don't have to buy them from ebay for quadruple!!!

Mattlures Swimbaits...OR whatever bait wins the classic.

Anybody see in the last issue of Bassmasters that Bass was telling everybody not to buy Basstrix cause of the way they are doing business? They even offered an alternative..

I don't know about no Paddle tail tube????  But here locally the hot bait this year is going to be Xtreme Bass Tackle drop shot tubes.  I bet they will be smokin' hot on Burt/Mullett in June.

Hey, JC. Good to see you out there, can't wait for FOM to start and the new Legacy trail. I got back from Texas and man do I have some sea fishing stories to tell. My bet is Swim baits, Swim baits and more SWIM BAITS.
