Title: Secord
Post by: TheFishinPollock on September 15, 2016, 09:32:11 PM
What do I need to know about this lake for this weekend other than it is just like Wixom and Sanford??Of course I have never been to this lake yet.  I'll have a hour or 2 to drive around it tomorrow afternoon before I have to be off for our club championship this weekend.

I've never fished it so I am of zero help to you, but good luck at the championship.

It's a tough, spotty lake with LOTS of stumps. Don't get out of the channel. I've had the best luck in the past running as far up the main river channels as I could and then fishing my way back down. Caught some big ones up there off of wood if the weeds are dying. Might be a little early for that this time of year but there's always some bass on wood.

The times I've been there in the fall I got bit off a lot by BIG pike too! So expect that especially if you're on the main lake part more.

I've heard dock can be good though I've only fished them a little with mixed results.

Well................... We were guaranteed 75 bucks at the end of the first day. No matter what happened lol. We were so far out and in last we fished day 2 and didn't even care. We aimed for big fish of day 2 , but knew it was a one in literally a thousand casts between us. I have not flipped and pitched like that since I was in Florida 15 years ago. My shoulder hurts so bad lol Day 1 we bombed. 1 fish 2 pounds. Lost one , but it was smallish.  It rained and rained and rained till 1 ish saturday. That just sucked. Starting in a downpour.

Running in there. I'm use to that in Fl on the rivers ,but that one area immediately  north of the west arm mouth was not so fun. My gps showed me driving on dry land a lot on that lake LOL.   We tossed topwater, sucked,  tossed some spinners, sucked, tossed jigs, sucked. Dad got one on a spinnerbait and he caught the cable on the telephone pole. ( if you see that we want it back lol Chartruse with nickle blades)  Second day it was good weather and i had a odd thing happen on my first hit. Pitched a toon, got a hit , felt like a bass, looked like a pike . Turned out it was a walleye. With his mouth clamped over the rockbass that initially hit the craw LOL.   He let go just as dad went at it with the net. Weird.  Lost a good 4 pounder when my knot broke, but still boated 3. Eh last is fitting. We had a " donation" type of season this year.

It's a different lake. I figured it would be like Wixom and Sanford , that I just will not fish .  I was surprised at how clear the water was and actually enjoyed the lake and fishing on it. I never pitch and flip up here. It's all smallmouth so its fast movers and casting .I really enjoyed driving on the lake. I didn't go in just a straight line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Got passed by a tunnel hull like we were standing still . Saw a tri toon with a 400R, and a toon with all under the water and boat neon lights.   I'm not sure I'd go to just fish it, but I am curious as to what the fall coughs up in there .  I am also wondering exactly how many pontoons are on that lake . Never made it past the three rivers area north except for the one arm off 3 rivers.

Okay. So it's an occasional thing. That makes more sense for the lake river system.
