Nice,
Last time they were here I was in Todd Faircloths truck watching Arron Martin win the angler of the year.
This time around there a month earlier then last time
Glad to see they are returning to Michigan. We should get a major event every year but we need more supporters of the events at local levels too.
So glad the elites are coming back! I really hope we draw some huge numbers at blast off and weigh ins. I just put in my time off request for all four days. Don't think I will marshal this year. I enjoyed it in 2013 and 2015, but what I enjoyed most was being there every morning and for every weigh in. Watching guys from the water was also a good time...plus unlike with marshaling, if I want leave that area and fish, I can.
That's the kind of fan they're looking for. Maybe you could be a featured fan at the tournament (if they had such a thing)...?? :)
I just love professional bass fishing. It is something that has been a part of me since I was a kid in early 90's and my parents would take me to Metro Beach when Bassmaster was having an event. I remember watching the weigh in with amazement at the fish they would catch and then running over to the anglers to get autographs. I still have the program from several of those events where I have the signatures of KVD, Roland Martin, Jimmy Houston, Fish Fishburn, David Fritz and many other anglers. I even still have a picture I took of Kevin wearing a dark blue vest with all of his sponsor patches...he looks like a kid in the picture.
Ever since then, I have always tried to attend every professional tournament in the State. They are such good events that do a fantastic job of promoting fishing and boost the local economy. I truly enjoy them and look forward to Bassmaster events as much as some other people would look forward to attending the Super Bowl. My wife and I have decided that in the next two or three years we are going to attend the Classic. She isn't as big of a fan as I am, but after she attended a few events with me she too has taken interest in the sport, especially after meeting guys like Kevin, Ott, Edwin, and Ike. She was impressed with how down to earth they are and the passion they have for bass fishing.
If you decide to go to the Lake Conroe event let me know. I may be there too. Not 100% sure yet because of the distance but I'm thinking about it. I have a place to stay and maybe a chance to do some fishing too after the Classic!
