Title: Looking for a lake front rental cabin.
Post by: fishonfly on January 13, 2008, 07:54:43 PM
Looking for a lake front rental cabin.

My brother, as I did, moved to Chicago for work and has the itch to get back to basic this summer.  He wants to come home to Michigan and spend a weekend up north fishing.  We are looking for a secluded cabin that sleeps eight, as there will be friends and family stopping in over the course of the week.  Simple but the lake must have bass!

I am looking to see if any one has or knows a place that we can bring the boat up and fish in peace.  If it was up to me we would fish Mullet for a week but he wants the cabin on the little lake feel.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Bill,

Your post is kinda funny.  I am looking for the same thing right now.  Working to make plans for a summer vacation.  I haven't found exactly what I am looking for yet, but I have been searching rentalbug.com and vacationrentals.com.  Both sites have several planes to rent all over Northern Michigan.

hey, if you want to pay me $500 for a week, I will get you a cabin on almost any lake.  Just ignore the broken pane on the front door, don't lock it because we have no key, and if anyone comes over, run like he!!.  Just joking, good luck finding something guys, but with the economy the way it is, you shouldn't have much of a problem.

I know of a place on Hamlin if your interested.  I'm not sure the availbility of it I just know it's there and right next to the launch.  Very handy.  Let me know if you want some more info and I'll get it for you.

Wendy,

Hamlin is on the top of list.  I spent a long weekend there last year preparing for a tournament.  I would love to know the place you are thinking of and check it out.

Thanks,

Cy

I will make a couple of calls to see if I can get the info.  I know it just got sold a couple of years ago but I'm sure the previous owner can help me out.

I will get back with you as soon as I know something.

Theres a place on the middle bayou called K's Edwater resort(231-843-3322) and North Bayou Resort and Marina (231-845-5820). i stayed at the one in middle bayou. it was decent. clean and had a dock for the boat. it was right across from the boat ramp i believe.
Parking was tight, but you could park at the ramp too.

Thanks for all your help.  I am still looking and have a few quotes and a few dates that I am checking on.  I am looking for a house not a resort.  There will be 9 of use including kinds and babies.  I would rather rent a house then a couple of cabins.  I have hit several online resources but if you know of anyone that has a place for rent let me know.

BTW, Thanks Spinninbug for the contact.  I will call him again today.  Any chance are I will be on Hamlin and I will look you up.  I am thinking about timing it to fish the Shoreline Tournament on 8/23.

Thanks,

Cy

You are very welcome,  I'm glad you mentioned shoreline that reminds me I needed to check their schedule so our club doesn't schedule that weekend.  That happened last year and we changed our dates.  We don't want to do that again.

Anytime anyone comes up to Hamlin to stay for a week,  if you want to fish a tourney we have a 3 hour tourney every thursday,  they aren't always on hamlin but let me know when your going to be here and you could catch a tourney with us.  It's just a good ole time tourney not alot of money and more for fun and braggin rights than anything.

Cy, or anyone else if you need info on hamlin feel free to ask.  I'm more than happy to help,  even been known to give out a hotspot or two once in a while ;D
