Title: Ovid
Post by: Durand Dan on November 02, 2007, 08:49:16 PM
I think I'm heading to Sleepy Hollow in the morning. Most likely a little chilly, but should't be to crowded :D

Make sure we hear to details... I tried to convince someone of how good Ovid is last Saturday (in the cold rain) and... apparently... he's a jinx because we might have gotten a bite or two...

maybe...

We did see some deer run along the shoreline in the water. Some other 'wildlife' always nice. Even if it was cold rain. And he thinks there's no bass in Ovid.

Genie,
That was a very good assesment of the situation. I didn't make it out there until Sunday morning around 8am. There were several boats there including a couple of guys in a Procraft going after Muskie. I pushed off and started throwing a crank bait in 12 fow. The third cast I loaded up something big. Never did get a chance to see it as it shook off. That was the extent of my action for the day. I tried shallow, deep, rubber plastic, drop shot, jig and topwater to no avail. :( Tough day!!

I knew it - that lake's success is a figment of Mr. Kimmel's imagination.

all I can say is... I must have a really great imagination because I have a lot of great 'figments!!!'

Probably the same "figment" over and over and over............
The only time that lake is hot is the 2nd Saturday in June between 9am and about 9:07am. Other than that, well........

LOL

My experience has been there are quite a few 7 minute windows of 'hotness' on good old Ovid. Sometimes a bunch of 7 minute windows even strung in a row. They just didn't recognize me the other day in that 'other' boat.

Dan, actually I liked the way Ovid is layed out, just wished I lived closer. I like the idea of being able to learn off shore structure for LM plus have those weed beds to fish. Nothing like that down here. I do plan on getting back up there next June with my boat and check it out a little closer.

In June, you'll see a lot bass.

June and early July were absolutely the most productive periods, this year, for size and for numbers. There were a good number of limits caught. There were a lot of bags in the 14 to 17 pound range.

What is really telling (as to the quality of fish in this lake) is that it was not at all unusual to have a 16 or 17 pound limit, and not have a 5 lb. fish.
