Title: Cass Lake Last Chance
Post by: Skulley on October 20, 2007, 12:08:40 PM
Is the Cass Lake Last Chance still going off the last Sunday in October???  If so that is the same as the Kent Chiller Thriller.  I am leaning more to the Last Chance because of $$$.  I can not see paying $100 to fish and inland lake tournament.  Just doesn't seem worth it to me.  Rather go to big water and fish for fun.  Inland lake fishing is getting ruined because of the DNR killing or should I say eradicating all the weeds.  Seems they are for the lake associations and not for the environment anymore.  But that is another subject for another blog.

Last Chance is has usually been $50 or $60 plus $10 for big bass pot.  I was just wondering about it.  May fish Last Chance if it is still on.

Looks like Garza and I will be fishing it.  Here's a couple posts from from another board that should fill you in on Last Chance Event for this year:

"Come and fish the LAST CHANCE at Cass lk. Dodge Park #4, gates open at 6:25AM, entry fee $50, Five fish limit. I have no idea what MOTHER NATURE will have in store for us, but we will have a great Day, hopfully with many TIGHT LINES. Any questions contact me [Doug Ratliff] at 248-360-2163."

"19th annual tournament will be at Cass lk. on 10/28/07. Gates will open at 6:25am, start time around 8:00am, $50 entry fee. We will not be turning our clocks back this year. If you any more info see the calendar at this web site."

Hey guys,

I was thinking of fishing this tournament on Sunday. I have a 14ft boat with a homemade livewell...I've fished plenty of club tournaments with it but I've never fished any opens with it. So I was just wondering if i could use it in this tourny? Because I know sometimes there are minimum size lengths for the boats that you can use. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I do not believe Doug has a size limit, but you should call him at the number above to be sure. You just need to have a livewell that will definitely keep the number of bass alive.

cameraguy and I are planning on being there Sunday to donate. I think I've only been on Cass once all year and that was for the Fish-n-Friends youth fishing day in July.

If the weather is really nice, be there early since parking is limited.

Anyone from the GLBass.com forum who fishes, make sure and say hi. I don't know who everyone is and my memory loses valuable information at times too, so make sure and say hi. Look for the GreatLakesBass.com old venerable Ranger 492VS and that will be me (or cameraguy).

I am planning to be there Sunday AM to donate myself if I get my boat back from the repair shop Saturday.  Hopefully the parts will be in today and they will have it ready by close of business tomorrow all ready for Sunday.  Went out to Cass on Monday to take the day off and maybe scout it out a little as I haven't been there myself since late May.  I did good and I was on fish but then my voltage regulator fried and it was cause by broken magnets on the flywheel as those magnets rotate around the stator to create the electrical field that charges the battery yada yada yada.  See you there if everything goes well.

Nothing worse than a loose flywheel... ;D

The flywheel wasn't even loose.  The magnets on it are held on with a special glue according to Doug at Prop and Sail.  Apparently this glue is even stronger than super glue.  A high resin epoxy.  If those get on there and he can get it back together, then I am in business.  At least I don't need a new flywheel.  That is big $$$$ and a stator is even bigger $$$$.  As it is the new voltage reg is going to be about $250 by itself.  Oh well.......... :-\'.........it's only money.  Can't take it with me when I die so I may as well spend it.

The entrance to the park is on Parkway rd which is just off Cass-Elizabeth road. If you're coming from M-59 you can take Cass lake road south for maybe one mile and then turn right onto Cass-Elizabeth road. After about 10 secs look for Parkway road on your left side. There is a sign that says Dodge Park #4 to your left.

:( is right Wags.  My boat wasn't ready yet.  One of the parts arrived damage from shipping.  I hate shipping companies.
