Title: SOS Suspender Vests
Post by: Dan on September 19, 2007, 12:21:51 PM
I recently was given a SOS suspender life vest automatic version. It was a vest that had been used as a demo at a show and water had been tossed on it. I have to rearm it. I have the directions and it looks like I not only need a 38 gram Co2 but an "unfired bobbin." I need to get a bobbin and will be looking online. I wouldn't mind some reassurance from someone who has rearmed one before.

Thanks,
Dan

NOt a big deal to rearm - When you get a rearm kit, it comes with both the bobbin and the co2 cartridge.  Just remeber to hang it to dry after each use, as well as place it in one of those large zip-locks when not iin use in the boat.  Moisture will erode the bobin material over time.also, remember to back off the cartride for long term storage so that if the bobin does blow, you save the cartridge.  Rearm kits are like $30, where as just the bobins are like $3-5 for a few.  Send me an IM if you are still unsure.

Hey thanks Jack. I got a package of Co2 cartridges and a little blue plastic looking thing. I assume that that is the bobbin. I'm going to put them in and see what happens. How do I know it's really armed and ready?

There should be a lever that is reset into the arm position.  Place the bobin into the holder, and twist the cartridge in place.  There is a sight window indicator(spring) that changes color from orange to green once its compressed.  The last step is there should be a little pin that goes into the lever to keep it in place until it activates.

Good luck!
