Title: West Michigan Walleye Club
Post by: Dan on September 17, 2007, 10:45:55 PM
Went to the West Michigan Walleye Club meeting tonight with a group of walleye guys. They can't help themselves. It was quite interesting and they had at least 65 guys and gals in attendance. They had one of their members give a talk on catching walleyes on Hardy Pond. He said that last weekend he and his brother got 13 walleye. The club is having a tournement there next weekend.Their presenter like using a jigging rapala and uses it without even tipping it most of the time. He likes to find the steepest drops along the river channel and then use his electronics to try and find that one or two sweet spots that hold fish. He fishes the drops up and down. He also uses a Lindy rig and a very small treble. He likes the small trebles because of their needle sharpness. He fishes most of the time with minnows and he had some pretty specific things to say about the type of minnows. He said he pretty much uses the same approach, lindy rig and jigging rapala spring and fall. He gives up on the walleye and switches to perch in the late spring or summer as the mayflies and wigglers begin to hatch out.
