(In my best fake whinny voice)
Oh well, if we HAVE TO fish Ovid, I'll do it. ;)
I'm in as a boater.
Ok - so everyone wants to draw Vince...
Fall 2007 DK Open
Lake Ovid - Sleepy Hollow State Park
Saturday September 29
Launch: 8:30 AM
Please post your participation status - fishing? boater/nonboater? - on this thread so it is all in one place. If you recently posted that you'll be there on the other thread, you don't have to again. I will move it over.
All registered forum members are eligible. If you want to fish with a family member, please email or PM me before the event so I can make sure we have enough boats.
I will get a link to the online lake map up and go over some lures/techniques that work this time of year and post them this weekend. Hope to see a bunch of you there!
Dan,
Really sorry we won't be able to make it to Ovid, looks like we will be prefishing Leelanau that weekend in preparation for a upcoming tourney there, and I have never seen the lake. Again, sorry, but I am sure you can understand my dilemma.
Herman
I will be there as a boater. I don't think I will get a chance to pre-fish so I'll be just "goin' fishin'" that day. ;D
Cy
I will be there as a boater. Fiker if you want to ride with me give me a call.
I'll be there as a non-boater. Looking forward to finally getting back on some largemouth!
Dan,
I did post on the other thread but this might be easier.
I'll fish as a non-boater.
Bill, riding up with you sounds good.
I'm in as a non-boater. I look forward to another fun DK Open.

I'll be there as a boater ;D
I'll be there as boater.
I will be there as a non boater.
Willie
Luckily, Ovid is a lake you can just 'go fishing' on. You can cover a whole bunch of it in a few hours, but it is actually pretty complex for a small, shallow lake. Lots of bass though, so lots of possible ways to catch bass.
sorry I cant make the fall open, wish I could join you guys but our only chance to practice on leelanau is that weekend. Im sure I will be there this spring though. Have fun guys
Tim
I'll be there as a non-boater ;D
Dan - Im in as a non-boater - I think Jack is going in as a boater

Actually, I picked Chippewa (never been there).
I'm just lovin' the fact that I can sleep in that morning, for a change.
Put me down as a boater and Jason as a non-boater. ;D
BTW, If anyone is coming from the Grand Rapids area and wants to catch a ride with me to Ovid let me know.
Cy
Great! Thanks guys!
Dan
Like last time if you have too many boaters I can fish as a non-boater..... I think.
Looking forward to fishing at Lake Ovid again. Last time I was there I won the tournament with The Rev. I'm better at catching largemouth anyway. I'm coming after you Vince. That is If I don't draw you as a boater. . . ;)
Oh! A challenge! That should make things interesting... any strategy you want to share??
Well, so much for a laid-back, no pressure day of fishing. Guess I'd better bring the "economy sized" can of Wh___ A__.;D
Man, talk about throwing down the gauntlet and then getting smacked by it! By the way, I have free refills for mine.

I think Jason is counting on the pattern being the same as two years ago.
I highly doubt it, but just in case, everyone bring your frogs and horny toads.
Also bring your deep cranks, medium cranks and shallow cranks....buzz baits, spinners baits and flukes........senkos, yum dingers and tiki sticks.......poppers, jitterbugs and spooks......and a partridge in a pear tree.
I love the sound of that pattern! It plays right into one of my strengths...Junk Fishing! ;D
There is nothing better then spending the day tripping over 12 rods stacked up on the front deck like cord wood. Ah....fishin' ;)
Cy
You forgot the "deep-diving Hula-Popper", and my all time favorite, the "Carolina-rigged Zara Puppy".
Pssst, I've also been known to flip a Blue Fox Double Buzz into the heavy matted stuff, but nobody knows about that. It's been a well kept secret.
Just bring your go-to bait and avoid all that. You know the one... that long red stick bait with the 30 second fuse. Oh and you'll need a big net.
No one asked the CRITICAL question!!! What color partridge!??!!!?
Dan:
I plan on attending as a boater!
Jack
Thanks Jack. I'll put up the preliminary boater/nonboater list this weekend to see where we are at.
I just hope the algae isn't in Ovid. Had enough if that today on Ford.
Algae usually isn't bad out there this time of year... but it has been real warm and I haven't been on the lake in weeks - any reports from anyone??
Well, if there is any green, slimy, smelly stuff up there, hopefully the rain it looks like they are getting takes care of it.
I was out there last weekend. There wasn't any alge, but plenty of floating and submerged weeds on the south end where I spent all my time. I cought a few shorts and a nice channel cat on a spinner bait.
