Hay guys I'll be on elk and torch the 26th of Sept for a club tournament. I have not been there in a lot years. can someone give me a push in the right direction on what might going on?????  ???

In both lakes this last weekend, the fish were deep (25-46 ft) on the breaks.  I don't know of any weeds, but there was some scattered wood on the breaks the seemed to be holding them.  The only fish I caught in Skeg were about 12 feet in the weeds.  I caught mine mostly on a tube, but some drop shotting a 4 nch senko and a gup goby.  Only time I've ever been there, but here is what I found.

If you can get on them in Skeg - back end reeds and wood, or near the mouth of the Torch River - you will probably do really good. If someone finds them on the deep breaks in Torch, they'll probably win - at least get big bass - but that's 18 miles of breaks on a side to find them in? Skeg is shallower and many bass move through there supposedly each fall.

If warm, burn spinnerbaits of any minnow type (more painted if the water is darker) around 10:30 to 1:30 anywhere near the east end reeds (east of the ramp and along the back end).

Otherwise, everyone pretty much throws tubes. I don't know there is a magic color - just location, location, location. The longstanding theory is that bass from Skeg winter in Elk and Torch so they have to move through the river and the narrows in the fall. They come back in the spring. Don't know if that is really true, but people have been catching big bags based on that theory for over 20 years.
