I don't know if this is the right spot for this thread but I am looking for advice from some tournament directors out there. I direct a small tues. night charity series that is put on by a local church. The churches insurance policy covers all the activities before weigh-in and at weigh-in. My question is this: this spring I am going to put on a charity walleye open to benefit a local charity that the church will not sponsor so no insurance coverage. Should I insure this event? if so, where can I purchase a policy and around how much would this cost? Thank you for any advice you might have.
My only experience with insuring an event was a wedding at my house a few years ago. These people wanted to get married in my yard by my pond. The reception was there also, so I went to my homeowner's insurance company and had them write me a (I can't remember what they called it) for that day. I think it was like $32 for a million dollar policy.
Contact your agent and have them get you a quote for a "One Day Special Event" policy.
BS ;)
