Will be staying on the south lake the second week in August. I've never fished it before. Any and all help to shorten the learning curve is greatly appreciated.

I haven't been there much but it had nice weedlines and a few obvious good points which is where I caught most of my fish. There's some weed out into 15-~30 feet of water and outside these weeds is where some of the smallies wander around in the summer. The largemouths were more on the flats edges and inside weed lines and around the points. Near the pike.
