Title: Black River, Cheboygan
Post by: Owenalexuk on June 29, 2015, 04:55:15 PM
has anyone spent anytime fishing this river? Ive caught a couple big ones here but can never find them consistently. It looks like it'd be full of bass but I can never figure them out. I will also be on mullet for a little if anyone has any info on that this time of the year?

There's supposed to be one good spot in the Black River but the couples times I've gone up it from the Cheboygan River I did not find the one good spot. I caught a few here and there going all the way up until it was too shallow for a bass boat. Years ago I fished a couple of the mini-impoundments between the Cheboygan River and Black Lake with mixed bags of largemouth and smallmouth bass but it wasn't anything to write home about compared to the Burt and Mullett Lakes or even Black Lake. Always fun to explore though.

Try the lower cheyboygan for smallies. Had some luck. The upper and black can be good at times. Fish docks and edges.
