Title: Marshals still needed on Lake St. Clair.
Post by: TimH on June 25, 2015, 10:29:25 AM
The other day I received an email (as I'm sure did many other BASS members on this site), advertising that BASS still has open Marshal spots for the Elite series event coming to Lake St. Clair August 27th - 30th.  This is a great opportunity and I encourage anyone who has ever wanted to do this to register while they still have spots available. Use this link if you want to register. https://ssl.palmcoastd.com/ows-img/57000/marshal.html

If you do Marshal, be prepared for some long rides. Many of the pros go to Erie, and I'm sure after Lane's win last time more will be going to Huron.

I had a great time at Guntersville this year, and probably learned the most at Kentucky Lake. Rode with Ehler and the angler not mentioned in Hackney's post.

When I think about doing it I remember what Laporte looked like they day I saw him come in.  Maybe I will just go to the weigh in.  Or take the boat over and be a spectator.

There you go in the middle of it (again). Maybe you should retire?

I'd love to do one but not on LSC due to my lucky some fool would want to run 200 miles with a 25mph wind. No Tuff Man contest for me except watch.

IMO they should pay the Marshals alot of money to ride along with pros on the great lakes. Anyone who signs up for those rides to watch some other dudes fish deserve a visit to the spine specialist. Enjoy....

I think being a Marshal is something everyone should do once...It's a pretty cool experience and you get to see how hard these guys work at what they do....I was lucky, I never had a run more than 6 or 7 miles...I probably wouldn't do it again on LSC...Maybe some other body of water though..

I want to do some media coverage of the event but haven't decided how I'm going to do it exactly yet. I usually go out in a media boat for a few hours for part of a day or two. It would help if the locater service works better this time so I can find more anglers. And hopefully it's not as rough at first as the last one so the media boats are as gunshy of the waves!

Watching the Live Elite coverage today at the St Lawrence River.   They must be short marshal's there.  A lot of the guys are fishing alone in the boat.

That's a shame if that is the case. Shouldn't be a rough, hard ride with them limited to fishing the river if I understand right.

I'd seriously consider doing it again but that's Fair week. We have way too much invested in show pigs and I cant leave the kids to fend for themselves. Darn it.
