What is the best color all round lens to use? Having to where prescription glasses I don't want to buy several colors. It can get quite expensive.
Solar Bat has a color called mossback - that is all I wear.
I wear the Costa Del Mar Fathom Glass in Vermillion and it is great even on sunny days in clear water where you would think Smoke would be better. These are the best glasses I have ever owned. I also have a pair of Maui Jim glass lens (wire frame) in smoke which also seem to do a nice job in the sun where the glare is high. I don't need them and rarely wear them because I always have the Costas around my neck. If you want them I'd be happy to sell them. For my money on new glasses though, I'd highly recommend the Costas in Vermillion. It's a great all around color.
I've heard so many great things about SolarBat's Mossback color... I'm gonna have to give them a try next.
I've worn Costa's and Maui Jim's in the past but my last two pairs of Sunglasses have been Native Eyewear Attack Series ( link (http://www.nativeyewear.com/prod_details.php?style_id=15) ) I tend to prefer a brown or copper lens, mostly because it has great contrast in slightly stained water like we have around here with all of the oaks. The main reason I like the Native's is because I wear contacts and they seem to keep the wind from drying out my eyes on long boat rides. My current pair has a the "Copper Reflex" color lens and it's a great color in low light conditions as well.
Solar bat has a neat color now called Mossback gradient that combines brown and their original mossback color for the best of both worlds:

I hear really great things about the SolarBats and I may check that color out for my next pair. For a prescription pair, they seem to be the way to go.
I've used Hobie (sightmaster & smoke lens colors), Solar Bat (mossback green & amber lens colors), and Maui Jim's amber color.
I can see better using my Maui Jim's during over cast and sunlight conditions. I don't know........but I think it's the glass lens that works better for me.
BS ;)
I like my mossback lenses, but they don't come far enough down my face, so on the bright bright days I get alot of bounce from the sun under my glasses. Io like them though. Kaenon also has some good glasses and you can select different size lenses and different tints for brighter or more overcast conditions. Look into them.

I use kaenon kore copper 24 lens and have no complaints in any conditions. Although I did make a mistake in getting the smaller lenses, I believe they have 3 types and the largest that extends further below your eyes seems perfect. Like Jav at times I get the sun reflecting off of the water and glaring underneath the lenses, so my next pair I buy will be the largest version of keanons copper 24 lenses.

I found an amber Solar Bat pair on clearance one day at KD Outdoor. I found them to be a steal especially in early morning, or on sandy bottoms. Other than that I find I can see the weed bed edges better with the brown / beige tint versus green / moss but that may be one mans opinion.
Just get a goo quality sunglasses catcher that pulls em tight to your face so you dont lose em !!
