I was originaly supposed to out of town on the 21st. As it turns out, I will not.
According to our schedule, we are supposed to be on Cass Lake this Saturday.
Sup wid dat? Is it still on?
If so, who's planning on going?
I plan to be there, boater. Rick, if you want to ride up together again let me know.
That's sounds good to me unless I need to go as a boater.
I'm 95% sure me and my Dad will be fishing it. Im assuming 8am when the park opens?
I'm going for sure as a non-boater...Chris do you think you have an extra seat in your car? I don't take up much room...I can meet you somewhere in the morning...excited to get out with you guys again!

My truck is just a regular cab, but three people fit. Or you can ride in the boat. :P
That shouldn't be a problem, I get on 96 at exit 145 normally but it is closed right now so 147 (Grand River Ave.) is the next closest exit. Cass is about 45-55 minutes east of here so we can plan accordingly.
Is the exit that is closed the Spencer Rd. exit? If so, where should we meet?
So far, it looks like only:
Langer and his dad
Kid
Bender
Fiker
are going. If that's true, do we still want to go to Cass?
I am down with going where ever everyone wants to go. Fiker or Bender you got an honey holes out your way?
Sorry I can't make this one guys. I just got back from Korea and need to spend a weekend at home.
Catch a bunch for me!!! ;D
Spencer Road exit is the one that is closed. If you want to meet at my shop it is right downtown and there is a big parking lot. 391 Washington St. in Brighton. There is not any public parking near the Grand River Exit.
The only place that has produced for me every time is Thompson in Howell, but it is $10 to launch if you don't have the sticker. How have you been doing on Woodland Rick?
If any of the eastsiders are still up for it then I think Cass should be the lake, but if it is just people from out this way it might be easier to hit a more local lake.
Hey guys, I was out of town. Sorry to be a late comer to the conversation. I'll be there. Cass this time of year is tough, but I'm up to the challenge if'n ya'll are. Personally, I could really use to practice out on St. Clair because the last few weeks our team has STUNK out there and I need the time on the water. But I'm up for Cass as planned. I can be a boater. Anyone want to volunteer to send the club an email? Not sure why guys aren't checking the forums. Cass doesn't open until 8, so that's the earliest we can get there.
Now, if we don't get any more participation than the 6 of us, then I'd be totally fine with doing St. Clair instead. I'd really like to get up into the channels and see if the fish are starting to come into some areas yet. Thoughts?
I'm up for whatever... Fishin' is fishin'. ;D

Joe Camilleri is in as a boater
Either one of the lakes is fine with me...it is supposed to be a nice day Saturday so we shouldn't have any trouble on the big water...I'm game for wherever...

Hi Guys,
Change of plans for me. I just realized that I have a guest from out of town that will be available to fish with me on Saturday. I want to make sure he catches some, so I'll be taking him to St. Clair. I'd take him to Cass, but well... you know. Cass is a tough lake and I want him to catch fish. So I'll miss you guys... have a great time Saturday at Cass. If you guys do decide to fish Clair, let me know and I'll try to hook up with ya. Otherwise, you'll have to let me know what you figure out about Cass. I'd love to learn how to catch those summer deep fish out there. Have a great time!
Langer would your dad, Joe and yourself all be fine with Thompson on saturday or would you rather stay at Cass?

My dad and I are going to go and pre-fish for an upcoming tournament instead. Hope you guys have fun and catch some good ones.
Crud, what's happening to our event? Sorry I can't make it fellas. But tell ya what... why don't we just do it on St. Clair instead? Maybe we can get a little more participation. Just a thought. I'll be there anyway Saturday bright and early. Maybe we can all meet up at Decker's for lunch in the North Channel.
I'm ok with Cass or st clair
Any lake is fine for me, there are so many in my backyard. Unfortunately all seem to be in a tough summer pattern...other than Thompson.
For me it doesn't matter. I would like to hit St. Clair other than the drive, or any of the dozens of local lakes to me if it is easier to you guys. None of the other eastsiders have chimed in.
How about we decide around 8 Friday evening? That should give everybody time to express their thoughts.
Dan, how hard is it to add chat to the PHP board? That way we can schedule live meetings on here.
So if I'm getting this correct, as of right now we have:
Chris (Boater)
Luke (non Boater)
Joe (boater or nonboater?)
Rick (boater if the lake is small enough)
My boat will work for Cass, but not for Clair.
I'm thinking that maybe Kent is a good idea. It is pretty much equal distance from both Luke and Joe.
Even though I can fish it any time I want to, I almost never do. Reason? I never seem to catch any fish there. I know that they are there, I've seen em, but I just don't do well.
I probably won't be around at 8 PM tonight, but I'll check back periodically during the day until around 6ish, and then again when I come home later.
If we end up going to Kent, the east launch is the best one for me. Without power tilt the west lauch is tuff.
If we end up still going to Cass, Chris I'll still want to at least follow you there.
If we end up going to Clair, Chris maybe a solution is to trailer your boat with my truck. It would be easier for 3 of us to ride in, and it would make it cheaper gas wise.
If we go to Clair and trailer the boat on Ricks truck I will also help pay for gas. Joe is in as a boater so we have two boats and two nons wherever we go. Doesn't matter to me, you pick Chris ;D Just let us know when you've decided.

Sorry for the late post! I can't make this one. I've been up north for a few days and have been busy since returning. I just took the boat in yesterday to see what kind of damage I got from the oil line breaking during the TBF Championship. I won't hear anything for a couple of days. I hope you guys wack'em out there!
It looks like Kent would be the most central, with Luke coming from Lansing. Is that O.K. with everybody? Does anybody have Joe's number to call him? I'm not sure if he checks on here. Now, what time? Park opens at 6.
Word to the wise. This morning on St. Clair was crazy. At one point heading to the Belle Hump area, we were in 5 footers, spearing, getting soaked etc. By the time we hit the shipping channel, we took a sharp left and opted to fish the channels instead. Once we got into calm water we were able to fish, but the channels are not fishing strong at the moment. For a whole day's work, we only managed 2 keepers (best 4.8.lbs, the other 3). My friend's boat did manage a few more and we boated a lot of small largemouth. All in all a pretty tough day out there. Word has it that tomorrow will be just like today.
My advice would be to go to Kent. In fact, if the wind is this bad tomorrow, I may just join you guys out there.
Well it sounds like Cass is out for tomorrow ? Can everyone just confirm where they are fishing tomorrow so noone is waiting on a dock ! :P
I believe Jack and I were going to try St Clair tomorrow (maybe even Erie !) if Tom is going to be there ? Where are you guys putting in ?
I'm thinking of putting in at the Hall Road (Selfridge) Ramp. If the lake is fishable, then I'd fish the Northern end of Anchor Bay, then work into the channels to some of those largemouth spots so that the guy I'm taking out can catch a bunch.
It looks like Kent I guess. As for a time, it doesn't matter to me. Should we just say the East launch between 6:30 and 7?
Sorry all, but I was getting the boat ready tonight and noticed some milky colored fluid leaking from the lower unit. Looks like the seals may be bad. So it looks like I'll have to pass on this one.
We are going to launch from the East launch at Kent, at 7:00 AM.
Chris is going to hook up w/ Luke in Brighton. They are going to be in Chris' boat.
I'm bringing my boat, and as of right now, I'm riding alone. Joe if you want to hook up w/ me, I'm IM'ng you my cell number. Just give me a holler, and you're more than welcome.
Anybody else, that wants to come along, come on down.
Rick, Luke, and I were the only ones today. Kent was really tough with Luke catching the only fish of the day. He was a biggun though at 3 1/2 lbs. We fished deep, shallow, and anywhere in between and had a tough time. They really whacked the weeds over there.
Around noon we all gave up on that lake. Rick headed home and Luke and I went over to Thompson. We both caught a good number of bass. The strange thing was catching some small bass in 12-15 FOW. What were they doing out there in my bigger bass spot? How dare they?
We didn't get off there until after 6, my wife finally called to see when I was coming home.
It was great fishing with you two guys! It is great to see a younger man like Luke has the patience to get through a tough summer (lack of) bite at Kent and to hang out so long at Thompson. We fished it during the toughest time, 1:30-6 P.M. so I know there will be some good weights tomorrow in the ABA.
Hey guys, I'm glad to see a couple of you made it out. Sorry to hear Kent wasn't so great. To all of our guys in the EBA, don't be discouraged. There is usually an event or two where guys can't make it. It's usually right about this time of year. Last year at the end of July, things picked up and participation was back up like in the spring. So hopefully we can all make the next event on St. Clair with Wayne Carpenter. Should be a good one.
If anyone wants to have a "make up day", we can all go fishin' next weekend. I'm up for it if you guys are. I'll be fishing anyway.
Joe, sorry to hear about your lower unit, but maybe this will be a good chance for you to ride along with one of us other boaters and get to know each other a bit. I'd enjoy that.
