Hey all, I will be headed to Hardy next weekend to get into some prespawn's. Never fished here before, but heard great things. Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I checked out a couple if videos with Dan in them. Moreover I want to make sure I know what types of areas to concentrate on in that body of water this early. I know the general things, but not sure if that body of water acts different at all. And if anybody has fished it yet this year let me know how it was. Thanks! 8)
Thanks guys! Slow down on the responses and feedback. It's hard for me to keep up!
Keep your lure wet! Take blade baits if it stays cold like this. Bass might be in 15-22-3 feet if it stays cold but some bass may sneak into some of the cuts and channels. Remember what Waterfoul said about that rock bar by the dam. I've never fished it yet but I know not to run over it!
Blade baits on the steep drop offs. Jerkbaits on the edges and flats. Jigs will catch some off the wood.
And don't run over the skinny point near the dam!
Was on Hardy on the 24th, and went all the way up to the 131 bridge to start. Water temp was warmer up there but still mid 50ish. I did get a few Smallies 3-4lbs up there on jerkbaits. The fish sure were lethargic when you got them on, not much fight in them that day. I worked my way back down to the oxbow area by late afternoon and didnt have much activity there around that shallow point mentioned earlier but it sure was nice to get out there and sling some baits around.
There sure are plenty TOOTHY CRITTERS in there as well, they sure do keep you on your toes in between the bass bites!
