Title: Kosciusko County
Post by: Bender on July 09, 2007, 11:45:16 PM
I am heading down to visit family this weekend in Warsaw and want to get out a catch some fish with my dad who lives there. Any suggestions about Winona, Pike, or Center lake in town? Or is it better to head up to Webster, Tippy, or Wawasee? Or any other lakes in the area?

hey bender, the wiona ramp at the fair grounds is the best way to get on but it's closed for the county fair this week. center is a speed restricted lake and so no skiers on it and a good weed bed. pike is a dirty water lake with walleye and largemouth on it and also 10mph limit. have fun..karol

Are there any private ramps on Winona that you know of? I know a few people who live on the lake so I will ask them.

Edit: I talked to my buddy this morning and the ramp by the old high is open, there is just a long canal going out to the lake. I should be out there Saturday.

hey bender,BE CAREFUL!! the canal is full of floating algae that can clog up your intake and blow your motor! happened to me. don't have the 3000$ to repair my motor, so i'm sol.. might want to use your tm and keep the motor high. so good luck..karol

Thanks for the advice, I heard it is so thick you can almost walk across it all the way down the channel. Do you live in Warsaw? I lived in the area from 91-97, from living right on Winona to living in a corn field to living on Camelot near Syracuse. Of course I didn't fish at the time but now I have seen the light.

I didn't fish when I was living there. We went on Winona on Saturday, wow was it windy! It reminded me of St. Clair with as rough as it got. Especially when a wake board boat launched about 30' away from me, sending a wave over my bow and knocking over my can of pop. I was parked there fishing, not underway. I yelled at the young girl driving and the adult in the boat must have instructed her not to come back into the area since I was angry, it would have swamped my old aluminum boat. Also that channel is still completely chocked full and I used the TM to get out.
Anyway not many fish there so this morning we moved down to Palestine Lake. What a great place if you like to fish the slop with a couple of deeper holes. I will go back there and suggest it to you.
Thanks for the info, Chris
