What is your dryer not doing???  Perhaps I can help.  I have a Whirlpool Dryer.  First thing to replace is the little resistor on the back.  It is for the heat.  That is the first thing to replace as it will only cost you $15 if that.  Next are the little pucks in the roller.  These also have to do with heating.  A little more difficult job.  However 9 out of 10 times it is that little resistor.  I have fixed mine twice since I have had it.  Replaced resistor both times.  Bought it new.  Never bought the extended warranty especially since I can fix it myself.

when I press the start button, it acts as if its going to start but only for a second, enough to slightly move the drum then stop, when is stops all the lights on the controls go out then come back on.

I would hope you got it fixed by now but it sounds like the little pucks went bad.  Never had that happen but my neighbor down the street did.

When I went down the next morning, it started right up! And has worked fine since......until last night, it did the same thing, but after 5mins of pushing the button over and over it started up.  I think its time to get a new one.
