Post by: Dan on July 07, 2007, 09:35:57 AM
Anybody use the basstrix paddle tail tubes? Anybody know where to buy them at? Seems like everyone is sold out.

I've never used em, but they do look sweet.  I know they have been used in a couple of top 10's in the FLW and are really hard to find (every place I have looked - including Mikes Rx - shows them as being out of stock).  I just watched the Beaver Lake tourney and Yelas was throwing them around boat docks.  Like every other lure (ie chatterbait) that has been used in high finishes in high-profile tourneys, it may be some time before you are actually able to get your hands on some.

Other than this picture that you posted, and this post, I've never seen em, nor even heard of em.  But I do like the way they look.

How are they rigged up?  Is it just like a tube?

I too watched the Beaver Lake FLW coverage and it looked like quite a few of the top ten guys were throwing them. You can rig them, according to the article I read, like a tube or you can rig them with a weighted wide gap hook. Very versatile in terms of presentation. I did find them online out in California, but only six inch. Just felt those would be too big. Guess I'll just have to order some and wait to see how long they'll be on back order.

Those baits are the Picoso of soft plastics.
I just look at 'em and gaze in amazement.
I don't know about the paddle tail, but the other baits I've bought are
all hollow and the color is in the middle is like it was printed on.

I've actually caught some fish on them too!

I'm looking for you guys, I just can't believe cheetam hasn't found them yet...
he must be taking a nap.

The original site I started buying these things from was a place call charkbait.com
they are a big salt water store out of Huntington Beach CA, but their site is REALLY SLOOOWWWW.

I sure there's a couple of more places, I'll let Jeff get the rest of them.

GYCB makes some similar. They are sort of like Flukes. If you like the tail action on those you can get a tighter tail action with a GYCB Shad Shape worm. These Shad Shape worms are killer on round shakey heads.

Try www.landbigfish.com they should have those.
