For many years we had a swap meet for used and unneeded fishing and outdoor gear out in the Jenison area. That will not be happening this year due to changes in policies at the local churches we've used in the past. It was very successful in raising money for a Hand2Hand food pantry in Hudsonville. It was also a lot of fun!
So I'm wondering if anyone in the area has any ideas of where we could hold this event this year? I was hoping to not do it in a bar type atmosphere but rather in a gym type place. How about your church? Your kids school? We basically charged $10 per table that you would use to display your stuff. What you made selling your stuff is all yours. We'd need some place that maybe has tables so everyone doesn't have to bring their own (not everyone has tables to bring). Low or 0 rent would be nice too.
Please forward any ideas to me or post it here.
Thanks.
Why not just do it in someone's house? Works ok for the east siders, why not for the westies?
They are having one at the Holy Trinity church in Comstock Park on 4/11. Although I didnt figure your going. ;)
WMB also had one last year. I wonder if they are going to do it again? It was a good time.

We've had as many as 50-60 vendor tables set up at our events the last several years. 150-200 people attend. You want that traffic in your house? ;D Nope, a house won't work. The people who regurlarly take part in this event bring a lot of stuff... lots of big lake stuff as well as bass/walleye/panfish/etc... and some camping and outdoor gear as well.
The one WMB put on last year was cool... but in the scope of things was WAY smaller than what I'm talking about. Take that one and multiply by 10 and you've got what we've been doing. I shouldn't take credit for it really, my friend Tim has been organizing it and I just help out where I can setting up and terring down. I always make some decent money selling tackle too.
So we need something on the scale of a gym or big multi-purpose room.
no lame big lake stuff and ours is at a polish hall. 10 times better if you ask me. ;D

Maybe if Ed wasn't trying to get top dollar for stuff he hasn't even SEEN in 12 years. LOL!
WMB will have a date posted for our swap meet event soon!
