Bass Tournament East
Saturday May 9
8 AM until 2 PM - please arrive no later than 7:15 AM
Lake St Clair - Michigan waters only
Harley Ensign MDNR Ramp - end of South River Rd
Entry Fee $5 per angler 13 and older (required)
Big Bass $2 per angler 13 and older (required)
anglers 13 and under fish for free
Open to all registered GreatLakesBass.com members.1
This is a paper tournament - catch, measure & release.*
IMPORTANT: Each boat will need a Largemouth Bass Weighmaster Golden Rule designed for catch and release with weight conversion based on length.2
Format is draw tournament with boater and nonboater fishing as a team. 5 biggest bass between the two or three team members will be counted to determine finish.
*Biggest non-bass fish brought in to weigh wins the coveted BIG UGLY prize! Fish must be in season and legally caught to count.
1Please note:
Family members may be able to fish together. Please contact me directly by PM (http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=1), phone 810-433-BASS (2277) or email (http://glbass.com/contact) to arrange this. I would prefer family members 18 and older be a registered member of GreatLakesBass.com. I will not request that for family members under 18 and prefer not to have family members 13 and under register due to federal privacy regulations. If you have a family member that wants to fish but not be a member, please contact me privately prior to the event. Youth 17 years or younger must be participating with a parent or legal guardian. Exceptions to this will need to be discussed with me in advance. Use the contact information above please. Thank you.
2 If you don't have the correct paper tournament Weighmaster Golden Rule board (available from Gator) you can use a regular board. Measure the bass based on the farthest line the tail touches or goes over. Bring the board in to me and I can come up with a closest conversion in weights for you to finish tallying your weights - you probably won't get as much weight credit fyi. Please try to get the Weighmaster board from someone or some place. I don't have anymore extras and can't buy them at a discount anymore.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Nonboaters please bring life jackets to make sure we have enough. Life jackets must be worn zipped and/or buckled whenever the gas motor is running. Boater must use working kill switch when gas motor is running.
No live bait. Artificials only.
I try to make sure there are as few boats as possible with no one that knows the water. I can have a mini-seminar before we launch on where to fish for people who ask about it.
This event is all about everyone catching some fish, having fun and getting to know each other, and also to honor the memory one of our greatest members - David 'MadWags' Wagensomer!!! Thank you for being members of GreatLakesBass.com.
If you have anything new or like new you'd like to donate for prize giveaways, please contact (http://glbass.com/contact) me.
Post that you are attending, and if attending as a boater or nonboater in this thread please. It is easier for me to keep track if your status is in this thread rather than only through some other contact means. Thanks!
I'm in as non-boater for now. Hopefully that changes, but we'll see.
Edit: Because I got the post right under Dan's, just going to add the whole Boater/non-boater list here.

I'm in as a boater and will have sister-in-law (Laura) and nephew (Andrew) in the boat
Thanks
You know I'll be there... not sure about bringing the boat yet.
Will be there as a boater.
Unless I sell everything and join a cult....
In - non boater
I'm in as a boater and I will have my buddy with me as well. Its a smaller bass boat, so I don't think I'll be able to fit a third otherwise I would gladly take someone else along too. Looking forward to fishing this, as my schedule has never allowed for me to attend in the past.
Also, count me in to donate a prize or two. I'll get in contact with you Dan and let you know specifics of what I will donate.
In as a non-boater

It shows you as a non boater. That can't possibly be true with that beautiful boat of yours !!!!
I made sure and took the time off earlier so I wouldn't miss out like last year. I'll be there as a boater. :)
You know I'm in as a boater. I can't wait to catch some giants and watch Mike try to put his rain jacket on!
I am still mad that I forgot about last year's event. Count me in as a boater!
Actually - my lovely wife inadvertently reminded me this will be her first mothers day.... so put me down as a maybe....... and yeah boater!
You have to remind her, she's not YOUR mother! Leave flowers from junior and go fishing!

Mothers Day is May 10. The tourney is May 9. I think you'll make it back to the west side of the state by then. I've lived through 20 Mothers Days with my beautiful bride. My bride and the Mother of my children now just goes fishing on Mothers Day with me......if there are no soccer games that our son could be playing in. I say take her fishing and leave the kid with the Grandparents. Let me know if you need any more "tips" for getting more days on the water now that you're a Dad.

Classic Mike S. He may not catch many fish but he sure is entertaining! ;D ;D
Oh boy!! Here we go. With the first jacket comment from Goetsch, I was thinking of when I decided I wasn't going to wear my jacket as we half way stuffed a wave and I got a bath. It now I remember. It was a bad day for my jacket and I.
Anyways, the plan is to go as a boater this year and introduce the new Skeeter to LSC. Plus, I'm going to make sure that I know how to put my coat on by then.
Also, if I have 2 people who want to ride along for the west side, I will bring the Suburban, and we will go back out for a few hours after the weigh in. That's only if I have someone riding with me to keep me awake.
What Skeeter did you get?

Upside down jacket and all. ;D
You bet! But what was worse, as Mark explains it in Novi, the wave we half stuffed while I was wearing no jacket. That was a little on the cold side. Can't wait to see what this year brings.
Count me in as a boater. :)
Alright you asked for it....lol I'm in as a non boater... JK Ill be there with a boat and keys... I'm going to follow Dartag everywhere... he is always on the fish... no towel needed
If your there as a non boater with your boat and keys. Can I use your boat. Got some really shallow spots I want to run to.

mikballa in as a boater, fishing with family would like to add mojo.
i think a list update is needed, look at all the boaters WOW
If we don't get enough non boaters I will go fun fish.
I think I will be a non boater this year
Never fished LSC or with anyone on here, but it sounds like a blast! You can put me down as a non boater, I should be able to make it, God willing.
Looks like the list is heavy on boaters, at the moment. Count me in as a non-boater. If the numbers change and you need me to bring the boat, I can do that as well.

I can't offer you an outing in the old Skeeter this year, she's gone. But I will be towing the new Skeeter over, and I believe I will have room in the Suburban if you want to ride over with me. I believe Mike will be riding along too. I'm planning on going back out after the weigh in as well.

Count me in for a ride out there! Sad to see the old Skeeter moving closer to retirement but, between your time with her and mine, she had some good times on the water. Can't wait to see the new rig in person! :)

Not necessary. Just wanted to make sure I didn't duplicate the names on the running list.

Moved back from Colorado last fall. I was lucky enough to land a job back here in Michigan. I don't have a boat anymore, but hopefully that will change in the next couple years.
Im as a boater.
If there is room, I'm in as a boater.
This is the first year I can think of where we've had more boaters than non. Usually it's a scramble to place people.
I imagine of all the people that signed up, a few will be non-confirms, but I leave that to Dan to iron out.

What did you buy?
It's a Champion 210
That's my dream boat Max, red with black and gray ???
Well
She's not red with black and gray, that would be sharp
It's white with red and black on the back
That is one beatiful Champ Max. If I can make it to the st clare event, you might have to peel me off that thing LOL

Sunglasses and sun screen if you need it
And I'd bring rain gear, My last boat you needed it no matter what
Heard the Fish are shallow these days
Bring a life jacket, money for boat gas
If you fish with me all you need are the Doughnuts. :)
Does anyone have a link for the Golden Rule weigh board needed? I found a couple just want to make sure I get the right one so I'm not asking everyone if they have an extra...like previous years...
Sorry I haven't provided a link but you want........ Gator Grip
Golden Rule
Weighmaster
Largemouth Bass
Gator Grip site had it as a GG-51 They generally run $22 - $24
The 9th needs to hurry up!!
Jefferson, bring some rain gear. Even if it does not rain if its windy you will get splashed.
Also search the site for Firefighter Jeff's video on how to remove an embedded hook in your skin. You can never be too prepared.
Double checked the list today and we have 1 more boater than non-boater for the people who aren't already paired up.

Definitely wear rain gear. I took my coat off, and on the ride back we half speared a wave, as Goetsch puts it, and I was a very wet guy.......in the middle of the boat. Don't be tough. Wear your rain gear. Let me just add, wear it right side up as well. It fits better that way!
Ypsi, you don't have Mr Kimmel on either list. If he's non boater, that evens it up, unless the dude shows.
There are usually drop outs as the event nears. As long as its close no worry. Like I said if there are to many boaters I will go fun fish.

Mike,
Those pills aren't working. Double up on them
That hurts my feelings man.
Sorry Mike
It was meant to be witty. Not to hurt your feelings.
My nephew can't make it this year. It will be me and my sister-in-law Laura in the boat.

I hate to do this, but just found out my dad is having cancer surgery next week so going to need to pull out.
Family is much more important that fishing. Hope all goes well with your dad.
I know it is a little early but the forecast says NE 10-15 mph winds. If that holds up any thought to moving the launch to Crocker Road. That side of the bay will be protected. Just a thought...

12 empty boats, 14 non-boaters. I don't think my boat will be fixed and ready to go by then so I'll have to stay in the non-boater category.
Rick,
Really boat ownership shouldn't be that hard on anyone
It can only get better,
Will get everyone out
I don't mind 3 in my boat

Repairs all done other than a water gauge that needs replacing. Should be able to pick it up next week, but need to get the TM screwed on. Not sure I can get that done before the tournament with these funky work hours.
Just come fish as a non boater. Get everything sorted out before you go out. Not sure, st clair should be your first outing.
Looks like I should be good to go. I was able to pick up an overtime shift last night, so I shouldn't have to worry about being forced anytime soon. I am also off Friday if anyone is planning on fishing that day and has an open seat I would be more than willing to chip in some gas money.
I hope the water conditions are like they were yesterday. We didn't catch hundreds of them like people have reported, but our best 5 went 25-15. It was a fun day.
I am planing on going I have a boat and taking my wife. Sign me up.
Due to work obligations I won't be able to make it this year.
Due to my boat STILL being in the shop, and a few other frustrating circumstances, I am going to have to pull my name off the list this year. Hope you guys have a good time with great weather. Kind of ironic...this is the first year the season opened up early, and I am getting my latest start ever. I'll be lucky if my first line is in the water by mid May.
I will be there - riding along with CMack and my son Luke - so 3 in our boat.
How much money should a non-boater kick in for gas? This is my first tournament. Thanks. :)
20.00 would be a good offering. You could IM you partner and see if he would like you to bring anything. Make sure you bring a rain suit. Even if it doesn't rain it can be cool out there this time of year.
If you need tackle or anything ask any of us at the ramp. We can help you out.
