Title: So who's fishing what lakes and series this year.
Post by: dartag on January 02, 2015, 07:17:23 AM
Sounds like CFB is going to take over SE Michigan tournaments this year.  Good to see them grow. NBAA looks to be gone from our area,  BFL has focused more on the lower Detroit river. Have heard other series are planning on tournaments in the our area.

My 2015 plan is to fish what lakes and series I like.  Going to fish more to have fun than fish lakes and days I don't really like to fish.

Going to be interesting when schedules come out.

Not sure how involved I will get this year in terms of tournaments. I have received my paperwork back from BASS and will be Marshaling on Guntersville and Kentucky Lake this year. I always look forward to doing that. This will be my eighth year. I figure I have been in about 60 Elite Series boats to date. Met some great people, besides the pros, that I maintain contact with. Last year I rode with Brit Hite, Kelly Jordan, Kevin Short, Tracy Adams, and Keith Combs. I also met Joe Green, in the photo with Brian Snowden who I rode with on St. Clair. Joe makes knives and is a master craftsman. He always makes a knife for the pro he rides with and color coordinates them with the pros colors. He then presents them unannounced and they are always wowed. I have been there when he's given them. He even watched Zona's show and heard what Zona's boy's favorite colors were and made knives for Zona and the twins. Joe never takes any money. If the pros offer something he asks for an old autographed jersey. He has a log cabin and has 43 Elite Series jerseys in shadow boxes screwed on to the ceiling! He's been asked to make knives, forks, and spoons, a dinner set for Amanda Lamberts and Blake Sheldon. He's made me several knives, and just before Christmas I got a package, and in it were a small deer antler spoon and fork he made for my new grandson. He's the most generous, caring, and genuinely nice guy I have ever met. I have also made other acquaintances while Marshaling. A realtor from Florida, a biologist from Canada, a fellow retiree from Texas, etc. that I still maintain contact with. Needless to say, I plan on Marshaling at least two events a year until my old body says no more.

PS
That smallie Biffle is holding he caught in Erie. We were in a community hole during a local tournament. Everybody there was drop shooting. Biffle picks up his 3/4 ounce Biffle bug and tosses it out with a splash. He caught three fish on it in a matter of minutes while the drop shotters looked on. It wasn't long before they were all digging in their boxes.

Well if things work out right for me. Our group is dumping NBAA( they really do suck after laste years distaster)    Our  director is in talks with CFB . So if everythign works out  I'll be running that circut up here and doing  various opens around the area.   Won't be fishing the BASS team circut this year. Was not real impressed with how it was run last year.

If I fish any club outings, it will be cash for bass. I'm going travel   the state this summer, and fish lakes I've never fished before. I'm semi-retired  , and have plenty   of time on my hands this summer. I will be spending   a lot of time in the Kalkaska area.

We will spend the middle 2 weeks of June on GTB with the family.  Will try to come back up in mid July for a couple days.  Been trying to recruit someone to take a trip with me to Big Bay de Noc in August for the last couple years.  Maybe this is the year.

For me it's the Wen nights Oakland Co. lakes like in the past
Trying to get in on the BASS open in Ohio (I'm on the waiting list)
And I'd like to fish a couple weekend tournaments as well

If were slow with work it would be nice to catch a few of the CFB other week nights
Thursday or Fri night

I'm tapped out on the BFL's for awhile, though I enjoy them quite a bit.  My schedule and disposable income right now just don't allow the practice time out east.  I may pick up one or two of them, though, if I can swing it.  I am planning on fishing the spring Monster Quest, though.

I fished a night circuit for the first time, WMB's Case of the Mondays, and had a blast.  Learned a bunch of lakes I'd never been on before, took home a bit of money, and made the Classic.  They are a great bunch of guys.  I plan to do those again, for sure, and pick up one or two of their Hair of the Dog team tourneys.

Add my annual June trip to Bay de Noc with my Dad and either Fall WMB Classic or final trip out to St. Clair, and it should still be a busy, but manageable tourney schedule next year.

Much the same as last year I guess.  West Michigan Bass's Case of the Monday's North, BBT, and one other weeknight club.  Kind of sick of the Gander Wabasis every Wed. night.  Been fishing that same lake every Wed. night for 7 or 8 years now.  Need something different!

A lot of it depends on our sponsors returning for this season.  I know we have a couple lined up already but a couple more would insure a second week night of fishing.

Plan on fishing as much as possible again this year but so far it looks like Anglers Choice (Sundays), CFB and/or NTBA during the week, and whatever I can find on Saturdays.

This year for me is going to be Huron Valley Bass again.  Best local circuit going (IMO).  Great paybacks, excellent championship, good people and fierce competition!   www.huronvalleybass.com

I also plan to fish the Fishers of Men, Legacy Series, this summer with my kids.  Best adult/Jr. Series, bar none!  www.fomntt.com

I'll be fishing Michigan College Bass Circuit www.facebook.com/michcollegebass and 1-2 FLW college tournaments. Other than that I want to learn what it takes to catch um on lake Erie.
