Title: GPS problem
Post by: stackenem on June 11, 2007, 03:09:33 PM
I have the Eagle Intellemaps 502c igps unit on the console of my boat and a Lowrance 332c unit on the bow. When I turn the boats master power switch off I lose my downloaded Navionics card out of the eagle unit but not the Lowerance unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am getting tired of redownloading my card all the time. The only time this happens is when I forget to turn the unit off first it dosn't matter with the lowerance only the eagle.

Thanks
Bill

Bill,
My good buddie also has the same problem with his fishmark 480. He has to pull out the chip and reinsert it every time he powers the unit off. I had the same unit he has and never had a problem. I loaned him my chip and his problem went away. He is going to clean the contacts on his chip and try it again. Maybe you should try that as well and see how it works.

What is the best way to clean the contacts? are you cleaning the chip the unit or both?

Just take a pencil eraser and wipe it lightly on the contacts of the chip. This will remove any grim or corrosion. I think some people use alcohal on a q-tip as well. Either way will work. Give it a shot.
