Title: Winterization
Post by: Skulley on November 03, 2014, 01:46:19 PM
I got up this morning and winterized my boat.  I did the usual fogging and of course changed the lower unit lube.  Also hit every grease fitting with grease on the trailer and on the steering mechanisms on the boat that have grease fittings.  Pulled all the batteries and put them in the house.  Put the cover back on and then the big tarp that I put over that.  Did all that in about an hour and a half including the clean up.  I didn't rush through it.  I never do.  Always a sad day for me.   :'(   I miss going out already.  Can't wait until spring.  It won't get here soon enough.  All I got now are my fish dreams.

Sorry to hear the bad news. It's a bit early for me. Mine won't get put up until the roads are salted or the lakes are frozen, whichever comes first. Happy dreams. Let's pray for a quick, painless winter this year.

Did my Ranger and pontoon last week.   Every year i am amazed at the tackle i find in my bass boat.  Found a bag with baits i bought at BPS in march that i never used.  Only 6 months till we unwrap them...

Did you change the knuder valve and grease up the exhaust bearings?

Mine has been tucked in the garage for weeks. All I have to do now is cover it and start collecting gear all winter, for next season. I'm looking for a outboard motor for my 16ft  tracker.

I still have the 40hp mariner, but I'm starting to put money in to it. Parts are getting harder to find. I would trade it in while it still runs good.

While your in there
A Phase 3 Hydro Tec would get that Bullet flying

Or buy that 300, seems like a deal and it's close

Go big Mike

I have the Phase 1 kit now... I don't want anymore to reduce dependability. If I rebuild this one, I will have a tuner and solid motor mounts installed...

The pre 2007 300 hp HPDI has less HP than my motor... And less reliable than the OX66 EFI.

It's the top of the middle piston
There's pre detonation or a temp problem that wasted the piston

Is that bits of the piston ring embedded  in the piston??

OUCH!!  That's exactly why I was ready to get rid of my ZX.  I was scared of it breaking. Granted, yours has had work done and mine was bone stock, but it still worried me. Possible 4 stroke time?  I bet one of those could be an all out animal with a little tweaking.

I had to completely strip my boat down this year to send it to the Dealer and then down to Bass Cat for the winter to fix some issues with the trailer.....I unloaded rubbermaid tubs full of stuff...No wonder I need a 250 Pro XS and lose MPH as the year goes on... :D
