I did speak at the October 9 NRC meeting in Cadillac about the bass season after the MDNR Fisheries Division reported their informational only recommendation. Amy Trotter, MUCC; Dave Reault, TBF of Michigan; Gene Gilliland, B.A.S.S.; Robert Cartlidge, TBF Inc.; and Ron Spitler, retired MDNR fish biologist, all spoke in favor of adopting Option 4/D to open bass fishing when inland pike, walleye and muskie open. NO one spoke against any option. I still have to write a more detailed paper to hand in to the NRC and MDNR Director explaining our Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation position further.
I also worked the U of M football game last night because I can always use some money and I needed a break. I haven't accomplished much more than that.
We've had a serious and completely unexpected medical issue come up in my family the middle of last week. We had no warning. It's hit our family hard for good and for bad. Much of my time has been taken up helping with some medical care and helping some of the family cope with things (though that hasn't worked for everyone as can happen during frightening times).
This is why I didn't post a suggested letter or other helpful information for others. We may have a delay right now in the bass season process. Add that to family needs and I prioritized a number of things to come after the meeting. I will catch up with some details and ways people can help with the bass season as soon as I can. I hope to find some time this week to check on any effect our various testimony might have had on the process.
I'm hoping for the family situation to stabilize a little over the next 2 weeks but I don't have enough information yet to know how things are going to go. This may be an ongoing challenge for the whole family for some time. There's some problem-causing privacy challenges so the most I can share is to ask anyone who wishes to pray for our family, share positive thoughts for strength, whatever you feel like.
I appreciate any patience, and any help with other things like the bass season as always. I may lose track of things more than usual (yes, how will you know... :)) but I always keep trying to get back to the most important things whenever I can. I don't mind reminders about the important things either. Thanks for your time and for your friendly participation on this website! Enjoying life, your family and friends, and helping each other out is a good way to spend your time.
Prayers sent for whatever is going on
I definitely want to publicly thank Amy Trotter/MUCC, Dave Reault, Matt Belletini, Gene Gilliland, Robert Cartlidge and Ron Spitler for taking the time to be at the NRC meeting. Gene also helped me a great deal by swinging through Lansing to pick me up and then drop me off back home that night saving me on a number of things to get to and from this meeting.

Thanks. I always appreciate that.
Totally understand, family first, and prays for you and all your family
Thanks. It must be working. Things are better. More to come. Maybe we'll get good news. That's my favorite.
