Title: GreatLakesBass.com decals
Post by: djkimmel on January 28, 2006, 04:52:31 PM
I received a request from a member about GreatLakesBass.com decals (without the bass and Dan Kimmel part). I've had some made for my truck and boat that I like. Here's a sample on my truck:

I could order some made if there is enough interest in purchasing them and providing them to you at a nominal fee. I plan on doing this eventually, but of course anything that helps get more anglers to visit here and participate is welcome.

If you are interested, post here and mention the approximate size you'd be interested in. I have received two sizes so far: 22" and about 23 1/2" (truck size).

I imagine other sizes are possible, but a few standards would be easiest. No obligation again, just for those who are interested.

I will also eventually have - probably - Gemini Sports Marketing digitize the GreatLakesBass.com logo so I can have it embroidered on my clothing. Just waiting to develop a budget - might not be this year, but who knows? Eventually, I plan on giving them permission to allow other anglers to use it too, again only voluntarily. I have other ideas, but lets start with the above. Thanks for all your awesome support and fantastic participation here.

PS: No one will be hurting my feelings if they are not interested.

I'll be checking into pricing and sizing hopefully tomorrow during the day to get an idea about this.

Thanks so much for your support. Participation is still slowly climbing here on the forum - which is great!

Dan,
I need 2 for the suburban and 2 for the boat. I dont know what the digitizig cost whould be, but I am sure if you will let  us put it on our shirts we could also pony up some cash to help out with that as well. If we get enough people to commit to it we could get the cost down to a couple of bucks a piece. As I were a 3xl shirt I have plenty of room for more logo's

If the cost of digitizing for embroidery is prohibitive, you can always have it screen printed very inexpensively and it'll still look great.  In fact, if you send me the vector file, I'll make an iron on for myself and send you a sample on a hat or shirt to give you an idea of what it would look like.  There are probably a myriad of screen printers in your area that can print them quite cheaply.  If you decide to have them screen printed, you can count me in for a shirt and a hat.  The homemade iron ons only last a few washes.  But they're good for samples.

If you are going to do shirts Dan, I'd like one with large back graphic and a small graphic on the left breast.  Also a hat.  I'll take two shirts in a XXL.

I'll take one, Dan, if you put an order in.? I think I'll put my screen name in smaller letters right below it on my truck.? Nah, probably shouldn't, might draw a crowd... ;D

What sizes are you thinking about?
Title: Re: GreatLakesBass.com decals
Post by: fishon1219 on February 01, 2006, 06:03:50 AM
We could set up the decals like the PAA has theres, but instead of the PAA member number we could put our forum name on them.
Title: Re: GreatLakesBass.com decals
Post by: djkimmel on February 01, 2006, 06:41:06 PM
Where can I see an example of the PAA decal you mention?

I'm thinking of one size fits all of 22" - that's what I have on my boat and it still would be very visible on a truck. The one on my truck in the picture is only about and inch and a half larger.

Would that size be ok for everyone? I haven't asked how small he can make them.

I appreciate all the other ideas too. We'll probably get to that as we go along. I'm looking at options for that, but I have to setup installed ad software and contracts first because of requests I've received, along with the affiliate links some of you suggested too. THANKS!

I'm awaiting pricing from Flint Sign for 22" decals.

I did discuss having an additional custom sticker to add below with your screen name with owner Michael Stafford. Not sure how we'll handle that yet - how many of you might want that option?

Also, I think a couple of you wanted some additional info on other decals. I'll post Michael's latest contact information soon. They are still developing their new web site.

Dan,
I will pay extra to get my screen name on the sticker. He could even make a small viynal transfer that will fit lut under it with screen names. The PAA stickers I was refering to you will see on most of the boats fishing the PWT. It is A circuler sticker that says PAA on the top and has the member number just underneith it.

22 inch is good for me Dan. That would look good on my topper.
Title: Re: GreatLakesBass.com decals
Post by: djkimmel on February 03, 2006, 12:55:16 PM
Thanks Andy - I'm going to get a supply of plain 22"

I've talked to the printer about a custom decal for those who want it with your screenname in orange below the GLBass.com logo - it would actually be attached so it is easier to install together.

The decal is actually a two part of gold/yellow on top of a slightly larger orange backing. The screen name would be part of the orange punch out backing.

I did not work out with the printer yet on whether the screen name would be on the left edge, middle or right edge. Not sure, but I think he will be pretty flexible on this - where would you guys/gals like your screen name for those who want that option? Left, middle or right?

Better mention the prices before we go any further - these do cost a little more because of the two-part design:

22"w x ~3"h     $10

Custom decal above with screen name attached below: $20

As soon as I have final details from the printer, I'll start taking orders for those still interested in either of the above. I'm also waiting on his suggestions for the best and cheapest way to ship these to those of you who want them. Thanks.

I think a customer pick up at Hooters(conference room H for those who need stealth) would be appropriate  - poorboy can get his decals and wingies together - Flint has the best talent, although I have not been to the Novi Location.

I have to admit the one in Flint has some good talent! I only eat there mostly when my friends come to visit me - my Lansing friends seem to only feel it is worth visiting me if Hooters are... er, I mean - is involved ;)

It will really help if you have some tattoos...

It looks like shipping will be around $3+ to maybe $5. I'm just charging what it costs for that - not handling or some other thing. Anyone who ends up wanting to can meet me somewhere in Lansing (evenings/weekend) or Flint (weekdays) too.

I hope to have the standard decals in a few days and then I'll post final instructions.
Title: Re: GreatLakesBass.com CUSTOM decals
Post by: djkimmel on February 07, 2006, 02:51:55 PM
If you want a custom decal with your screen name for $20 - email me your screen name, name, mailing address (or ask about picking up from me if you want to do that), phone number and time to reach you if there are questions.

The printer is going to print a sample of the customized decal for me and as soon as I receive it, I will post a picture so you can see how the name looks to make sure you like it.

I was asking the printer about justification of the screenname and he felt a sample was the best way to make sure everyone likes it ? it will probably have the screenname centered below GLBass.com.

If you want to order now, I will put in the request to the printer and let you know when it is done.

I will let you know the total depending on your pick-up or mail choice, and whether or not you order additional decals. You can mail me a check (made out to Dan Kimmel) or use Paypal to pay.

If you choose Paypal because you are a member (free to buyers) or don?t mind signing up, once I send you the total, just go to https://www.paypal.com and sign-on or create a new account. If you have an existing account, you can choose from whichever payment methods you have, or you can open a new account and pay by credit card by adding one.

Just go to Send Money and pay to:
djkimmel@aol.com

Sorry I don?t have a ?store? with streamlined payment setup yet. It?s on the list, but a few weeks away probably with all the other stuff going on right now.

yukonjack2 - should be $30 if you are picking them up. That is the prices I worked out with the printer. The only question now is shipping and you're skipping that...;D

I'll put in the request. I heard today he is matching up the two parts on the regular decals already (I heard a rumor he was on here reading too today). I'll let you know when the custom decal is done so we can arrange the Hooter-fest.

Hello kgr624! Welcome to the boards and thanks for the interest. As soon as I get the regular decals, I'll make a list from orders of who wants them.

The digitized logo is on the list of chores - a little ways down the list, but not too far (I can tell you it's definitely way above the GLBass.com brand cheese whiz - that's for PoorBoy ;D). I think it will look nice on some shirt and jacket colors (the embroidered logo, not the cheese whiz), and I'm flattered so many anglers are interested in wearing it. Thanks so much!

I'll be at GR - don't know the days yet. Have to do the Lansing show first the week before. I'll bring the decals - I should have a few left - I didn't order a bunch until I see how many people really want - the economy and all...

I'll be putting up an order page this weekend for those who want decals. I have a sample of a custom decal to display too in case anyone wants to see what they look like.

I'm thinking about carrying one more size of GreatLakesBass.com truck/boat decals - a little smaller than the standard size of about 22" wide - if the interest is high enough to warrant asking the printer to make a batch, and so I don't end up eating them myself.

I've heard from a couple members they'd be interested in a smaller size. Is there any demand for a smaller decal? I would want to come up with one consensus size before I would order any more.

What smaller size would members be interested in?  14" 16" 18" ?

These are a two-part decal so the price would most likely be the same as for the 22" decal due to labor - the materials cost difference is minimal.

The new decals are 14" W by 2.5" Tall - a little higher profile for visibility like this: (http://www.greatlakesbass.com/images/s_14decal_txtlogo.gif)

You can order yours for $9 each on this GreatLakesBass.com store page (http://www.greatlakesbass.com/store/glbstore1.html). Thanks for your patience.

You can trade. If you aren't in a hurry, maybe you'll be at one of the fishing shows this spring - Novi, Lansing or GR - and can exchange it then.

Let me know if you have another idea.

They are available here online: http://www.greatlakesbass.com/store/glbstore1.html

or stop by Wayne's booth at the shows and I should have them there where you'll save the shipping cost. I have a limited inventory so I don't know if they'll be gone at Novi or not, or when I'll get more. It's expensive to stock and sit on product.

Large regular decals (~22" wide) are $10

Medium decals (14" wide) are $9

Custom decals can be special ordered for $20 (the large one ~24" wide) with your GLBass.com screen name

I will have a price on the Medium 14" with a custom screen name added soon

You can custom order them from the GreatLakesBass.com store - decals page (http://www.greatlakesbass.com/store/glbstore1.html#glb14cus). Thanks for your support.

Dan,

Are you going to be at GR fishing show?  I would like to get a GLBass.com sticker or two.

Thanks,

Cy

I'll be there most of the time. Decals will be at the Xtreme Bass Tackle booth.

Hey Dan, I know that Derek and I will take a couple of the decals... Are you going to be in Birch Run in Feb.?

I won't be making the Birch Run event. I will be at the 2-day Wonderland Marine West fishing extravaganza at the end of March for TBF of Michigan and GreatLakesBass.com (and hopefully picking up some hot Erie tips from Bryan Coates and Joe Balog).

Hey, do they come in a smaller size?  I have a small SUV with a rear wiper... something as big as the one on your truck will simply be torn off my window eventually.

The smallest I have right now is 14 inches wide by 2.5 inches high. Check out http://www.greatlakesbass.com/store/glbstore1.html - the 2nd choice.
