Title: Pflueger Purist
Post by: McCarter on May 15, 2007, 10:22:55 AM
I got some BPS gift cards for my birfday and i wanted to buy a new reel.  I have a few extra rods laying around that are lonely.  I saw that the Pflueger Purist were only $79.95 each.  They sound like a good deal.  Here is what BPS has on them:

Superb handling. One-piece graphite frame for minimum weight; machined and anodized aluminum spool; titanium line guide; quality 8-bearing system (7 double-shielded stainless steel ball bearings plus 1-way clutch instant anti-reverse bearing); patented 6-pin adjustable centrifugal brake system; thumb bar; smooth multi-disc main gear applied star drag.

Gear Ratio - 6.3:1

Line Rec. - 28''

Reel Weight - 7.8 oz.

8 bearing and 7.8 oz are two nice qualities you would normally only find in reels $120 or more.

I really like my Summit a bunch.  So i am considering picking up 2 of these Purists.  Just wondering if anyone has experience with this model and what you think.

I love mine.  It's the PuristLP is the perfect size for my hand.  Personally I think the reel is smoother and handles better than any of my other Pfleugers.  Another thing I like about it is the easy access side plate.  It makes it a whole lot easier to adjust brakes on the fly.  Can't say enough good things about it.  If I could, I'd trade my Summits and Trions in for Purists.
