WOW the fish are in full blown spawn already! I have been fishing Hardy for 15 years and have only seen them spawn this early a couple times, this could make tournaments on the opener tough. There will be fish spawning still but not the numbers that are normally up ythat time of year. I have found them spawning from dam to dam.
I think the fish are even bigger than last year, I would have to say my best 5 went 25 to 26lbs.
The deeper beds seem to have the better fish on them, the water is real clear right now probly from the lack of ski boats.
As long as all goes well we will be up there Saturday the 19th for our final run through on the lake. Maybe we'll be able to see you there Outlaw?
I agree with you outlaw there is some good fishing to be had there especially right next to the dam by the bouys theres a fish on each one of them
Just wondering if you guys fish up by Rogers dam,or just up from the old Parkers landing. The water is cooler up there and there's some current, is there any good spots up? if so, can you give me a general area, I don't want you to give any special spots or anything, but if you could point a fisherman in some direction that would be a huge help.
I know someone who has some spots 'way up' that can be really good but it's certainly hit-or-miss. That's just smallmouth fishing though - they wander. I did well this time of year a couple times around the general area of the island between the former Parkers Landing and the no wake zone. Spinnerbaits if windy, topwater if calm. Again, I have not been able to duplicate it in a couple years. I have been up as far as the 131 overpass. We have found fish at times, and some good ones, but not usually in the same place twice in a row. I think you would just have to make a decision to spend the day up there and cruise until you find something. There's lots of wood, occasionally rock and gravel bars, and a few docks. There is usually less boat traffic up there. That's about as much help as I can be. Good luck!
I spent last Saturday and Sunday up there. Rented a cabin at Brower park.
It was sick! Beds everywhere!
You could actually say it was "catching" and not "fishing".
We had a blast. I took my Dad, he's just getting into bass fishing.
Kinda funny... the kid is teaching the Dad how to fish.
joshimoto son ;D
Will be there Sunday barring problems at work, so anyone in the area Sunday i will be in a white Javelin with blue flake, gold trim, w/ a 200 Johnson on the rear. Say hi if you see me, would like to meet some of you guys.

I fished there today, Friday 18th. It was like this all the time in the late 70's and early 80's. There are a couple of things that have changed. Word travels faster now, the pond was loaded with bass boats all day. It always was the worst place in the state as far as fisherman courtesy goes and I see that hasn't changed. The big change:
round trip fuel for truck and boat $124.88. Not fun. >:( >:(
Best 5 went 19# 14oz. Much fun. ;D ;D
couple other things have changed. Zebra mussels have cleared the water to the point where the weeds take over by early summer. The number of power boats is out of control. As far as fisherman courtesy, i guess canvsbak has never tried steelhead fiishing. i have never had the problems bass fishing as i did when i had the jet boat, IMHO.
I was there on Wensday and man was it chuck filled with beds. It was my first time on the lake. I didn't stick many fish but I seen a ton. Wasn't able to find the big girls but got a couple 4's. I seen a pair of three plus fish actualy spawing it was the first time I have ever seen that. Rode up the river and was able to catch some smaller fish that were not on beds. Seems like a great fishery. How does it do in the summer??"
