Fished Hubbard Lake last night with my brother from 4-9:30. Water temp was 66 degrees with the usual Hubbard Lake gin clear clarity. We managed around 20 smallies with most of them being smaller males and no fish we caught off beds. Most of our fish were caught on jerkbaits, but all of our bigger fish were caught on topwater. Our 3 biggest were around 4 pounds each and all were caught on a spook or prop bait. Nothing better in this world than smallies on topwater in my opinion.
Sounds like an awesome time. Can't beat catching smallies on the top water bite!!
Thanks for the report. I'm headed up there June 18-22. Staying at wes point shores. I'm thinking we will fish hubbard and long lake. First time up there any advice on what boat ramp to use? I'm going to fish with two others who are just as excited as I am to be up there.
East Bay has the largest ramp. South shore is decent. North shore can be a challenge. I typically launch in East Bay, but will use the south launch if the wind dictates. Good luck.
