Great day with red68prostreet and guide marcel Veenstra. 50+ smallies, lost count of white bass, and 3 eyes. 64 degree water by afternoon, most caught on jerkbaits or 4 in worm on a dropshot in 5 to 8 ft. Biggest was a little over 5 lbs.
2-3 foot visibility in the better spots.
I was just looking at the pics on Marcel's Facebook page, what an awesome time!
Dan,
It really was a great day. I have always wanted to fish with Marcel and your buddy not being able to make was my good fortune. I was also glad you posted the open seat available blog which allowed me to join you. I found Marcel very informative and fun to fish with. I was able to use the information learned and apply it to Sun.
My son Justin has been asking me for some time when we could go fishing together. He had never been to LSC and had never caught a smallmouth. Needless to say we got on the water about 6:30 AM Sun and spent approx. 7 hrs catching 25 nice smallies. We fished many of the same areas as Fri and the water had cleared up so that we could just make out the bottom in 6 fow. Our biggest was 4 lbs and we had another 8 that were between 3 to 3.75 lbs. The rest were cookie cutter 2 lb high fliers. The water got murky around 10:00 AM from the heavy boat traffic.
My son had an absolute riot and cannot wait to go again. I used this to my advantage as we spent 1 1/2 hrs waxing the boat today. I had two very good days this week. Fri and Sat. Thanks again Dan for allowing me to join you on Fri.
Tight Lines,
Mark
Glad you and your son were able to get out. Sounds like you had a great day. Congrats!
