I knew her location from what Rick had told me. I was there last week but the water was dirty. Today after a couple passes I could see her nestled between a couple rocks. Good thing I had my trusty garden rake with me. A couple dips and I had her on. Got her up close to the boat and got a rope attached. Drug her over to shore and put her in the boat. She is now safe in the garage. Going to make a nice coffee table ornament. The prop may be able to be rebuilt.

Nice,
That's allot to loose at Kent's speed
Makes you wonder what the "catch of the day" might be at nearby restaurants!!!
I thought you were bs'ing when you said you'd get it. Too funny.
Will make a nice wall mount.
that will buff right out ;D

That didn't happen without creating a wake! LOL
Rick,
Let me guess the spot
It's a little north of the boat rental on the west side?
Couple hundred yards to the left of the east launch. Thanks for pulling that out of there Dartag. Glad I can laugh about it now. Prop looks salvageable at least. If I'm going to screw something up, I'm going to do it well. Still can't believe you found it.
the key words right here "nestled between a couple rocks" i'm guessing it didn't move very far once it hit the rocks. has anyone marked that rock hump with a milk carton or something
If you mark it you could be liable if someone hits it. It has come up on our lake a couple times. Guess you could ask the park people. From now on I will remember it as " Rick's Hump ". Might even name it on my GPS. I have all sides of it waypointed.
Drop a milk jug on it when no ones looking. Seems dumb the park hasn't done something about it. I know a couple other guys who have hit it too.
I've eased into it but didn't do any damage. They should have it marked. I stay close to the islands when I "run" on Kent now!
Rick hump :D

I don't do that on command.
LOL :D :D :D :D
I guess at least it said "Rick Hump" and Not "Hump Rick"....that could have lead to some awkward encounters at the boat ramp for you.
If I could afford to be sued I would put that sign on it!! ;D
I've tried to hit it twice! I don't go out there enough to remember exactly where it is so I think I'm off to the side and instead I always end up aimed right dead center at it!
Thank goodness my Kent Lake speed is no wake instead of 10 mph. At 10 mph I plow a pretty wicked 'wake' in the old Ranger - looks ridiculous so I don't do it. I'm not in too big of a hurry on a lake with so many stumps, rock piles and sandbars.
You know dartag... since you found and recovered it I believe you have salvage rights?!? :D

Steve was supposed to give me the lower unit and prop... Looks like he forgot about me... I looked at the weigh in for Steve and never saw him.. Did you leave early Steve?
He is mature...
Can anyone help a weary Kent lake traveler out? Where exactly is this lower-unit hunter at?

"Couple hundred yards to the left of the east launch."
I myself like fishing around there and have yet to notice it.

Yeah I saw that, but it's still pretty vague. Left while facing the launch? Facing away from the launch?
Near shore? Middle of channel?

??? Rick had it set up with Steve, for Steve to get with me. Steve PM'd me on BBC and I replied...
Yep I was there and looked for you. We weighed our 11.5 pounds but had to leave for a family party. Even drove around the lot but did not see you. I will get it to him somehow.

Facing North it's to your Left. And it's in the middle
If you use goggle map and zoom in. You can see it

It's all good, I'm not mad. LOL... I stayed an extra 1/2 hour searching for ya.. We had 12lbs and didn't weigh in. We caught a lot of fish and my biggest was 3.15 lbs.. We culled many times with very little upgrading. I was hoping to see you there Steve. Been a while since we bumped elbows. ;)
I fished from a 180 dual pro ProCraft/150 Merc... I don't know if you were looking for my Bullet...
I think that would be the problem
Steve was looking for the crowd around a bullet. LOL
Let's face it.
Unless your wearing a speedo. We all look alike with a basball cap and sunglasses in differnet sizes
So what was the winning weight?
And who won

I don't have waypoints for it but as I do with so many other things - Google Maps satellite view to the rescue! (I think that's YpsiBass getting ready to use his trolling motor to get back to the boat ramp right next to the rock pile!!! ;D Or is it dartag right after the recovery of the lower unit prop salvage?!? sorry YpsiBass!!!)
Don't hit this rock bar. It will probably hurt. The channel is between the rock bar and the Flagstaff Point to the west. I've embedded the map below this screen grab image in case you want to visit the area - you can almost make out the bigger rocks when you zoom in and the raw Google lat and long coordinates to the green arrow are in the map link if you want to copy them into Google maps to pull up the spot.

There are a few other places similar enough that can give your lower unit a jolt so be careful out there.
Thanks, Dan!
That is the spot. The arrow is almost where the unit was laying. There are big rocks around the edge with smaller rocks and gravel on top. I have caught some nice smallies bedding on the sides but it gets fished quite a bit. When the water is clear and the sun is out you can see it. Best thing to do if you go out there is waypoint all sides of it.
Or don't go to that side of the lake again...
Boat is in the shop getting fixed up this week or next. Insurance covered most of it. Expensive lesson, but lesson learned all the same.
Please take this as coming from my heart and desire to see you enjoy the rest of your boating-fishing experience - try to make this a one-time lesson. Try really hard... (from someone who has broken off not 1, but 2 outboards!! - I prefer to keep the bulk of the motor together apparently rather than splitting it into big parts ;D )
