Title: Converting a portable fishfinder into permanent
Post by: YpsiBass on April 23, 2014, 02:40:28 PM
I have a Humminbird 535 portable fishfinder that I can't seem to sell.  I have a really old, small, hard to read, several dead pixel fish finder at the front of my boat. What would I need to do to turn the portable into a permanent?

Rick,

You'll need to wire it to the boat batt.
I would think you could use the power cord that you have

And then mount the tranducer to the trolling motor
They sell a one size fit's all mount. Or hose clamp it to the motor
Just make sure the transducer cord is longer then you'll need

Next you need to mount the unit to the deck if you have the gimbal bracket, or use a ram mount or make a Plexiglass adaptor face plate (if your other finder is mounted to the boat.
Use the black (smoked plexiglass) or make a alum or SS plate
