Title: C&R Opener - Gull Lake?
Post by: JPawloski on April 23, 2014, 08:55:42 AM
Trying to decide where to go this weekend. Weather looks a little chilly/windy up north, thinking of sticking around GR/Southwest Michigan.

Anyone have opinions on Gull in the spring? I've only been in the fall and have had a good time. Never been in the spring. Would Gun or another SW lake be a better bet?

You did get a good taste of Gull last fall. Never fishing it before and taking first against some great sticks. Great Job.

Talked to a buddy that went crappie fishing Monday and said water temp was 40 degrees. I would think these fish will still be out deeper until temp comes up a few degrees. Fish a shallower lake where water temp is up some. Gun would be a pretty good choice. Fill us in on how you do.

Good point on the water temps! I hadn't thought about that with Gull being so deep. We might need to hit Gun. Hopefully it won't be too crowded...

I've caught em pretty good on Gull with temps in the low to mid 40's.  It's usually the first lake I hit in the spring.  Caught a 6 pounder last year.  Love those brown fish!
