What's everyone's opinion on the best keel guard? Thinking about buying one so I can beach my boat. Looks like there is a few brands. Also any tips on installation? Thanks!
Had a hambys installed on my boat and it worked great. Very think and protective. I didn't install it but I've heard it isn't difficult.
Wow! I just installed mine this past Sunday. Only took me about an hour or so. And most of that was just using a 3M pad to scour the surface that it was going to adhese to. I bought the Megaware KeelGuard. Ordered a 7foot'er for my 21 ft boat. It was simple installation. Ran me I think $140.00 but it will depend on the length you want. Im happy with the toughness of it, but only time will tell. But for installation purposes, I think they are all similar. (CLEAN - SCOUR - CLEAN W/ALCOHOL - RUB ON THE PRIMER - INSTALL/PRESS ON THE KEELGUARD)
I have a Hamby's keel guard on my 2012 Skeeter FX20. Came installed on the boat. Works great.
I've heard they are a pain to install. But their asking an arm and leg to do it. I think ill take my chances. I've always heard hamby's is the way to go.
Thanks for the feedback! I think I may go with keel shield or keel guard due to the price and good reviews.
What kind of boat are you putting it on?
Same size as mine 18.5 ranger. I'm gonna look at all options. Let me know if you get it before me and how it goes.
