Title: Open Water?
Post by: Got Fish?? on April 10, 2014, 08:19:55 AM
Wow what a long winter. I'm getting the boat  out in the driveway Saturday.  Putting her together and starting  up my engine. I got my reels changed my boxes cleaned out and restocked. Replaece my batteries.A little wax after a trip to the power wash and  vacuum.  I' m rocking next week.

Man! No doubt a long long long winter! I have had my rig ready over a month ago. Added a couple things here and there but I am anxious to get this year started. The longer I sit around, the more excuses I give myself to keep buying more things for the boat. When I'm fishing, that will stop, thank god!

I went over to Wolverine lake and it is completely clear. Made some casts from shore with a new rod/reel. Very muddy and windy. Can't wait for my boat to be ready, just to get on the water and learn the electronics and equipment.

Drove by Kent Lake today. Still looked icy. Never fished there, not sure how it is.

Where is Wolverine at?

I believe it is off of Benstein Road near or in Commerce TWP, MI.  I pass it when I take my Skeeter FX20 to fish on Commerce Lake.

In my travels in the last week. I've come across several lakes still iced up and others are open water. I guess if your favorite lake is still frozen, your going to have to fish some other water. Before you can fish your best spot. Good luck finding water. The river has been a  duck and dodge all week for ice burgers. Is your lake still frozen?

Put my dock and boat hoists in today.   Water is 42 degrees.  Saw 3 bass boats out fishing.  Probably put the 9hp on the jon boat tomorrow and go look around.

Went to Lower Staits this afternoon to fire up the boat and make sure everything worked alright. Water temps were between 54-57 degrees in a quite a few areas.

Wow 3.1 inches. I am glad I keep my boat in the garage. Just be thankful the temps stay in the 40s  and 50s this week. It's just one more  herdle in the long 2014  spring fishing season.

St. Clair and Erie are open and that's all that matters. I hear from a very reliable source that they're catching good walleyes in the Trenton Channel.
